What is “Gippsland 2035”?

Backed by extensive collaboration, “Gippsland 2035” is what we’ve called the suite of these three documents that form the vision and actions that will see Gippslanders thrive as the region transitions towards a sustainable and prosperous future:

• The Transition Plan - "Plan"
• The Implementation Plan - "Do"
• The Outcomes Framework - "Assess"

Together, these documents provide a blueprint for Gippsland's transition and offer a promising path toward a brighter future for the region.

It's a heart-warming tale of community dedication, government support, and historic preservation that has breathed new life into a cherished local treasure—the Boisdale Stables.

On Friday, October 13th, the Boisdale and District Progress Association invited the community to celebrate the official opening of the Boisdale Stables. The event represents the culmination of years of hard work and collaboration, marking a significant milestone in the history of this small but resilient community.

The Gippsland Innovation Breakfast series is a collaboration between Federation University, Latrobe Valley Authority, and Regional Development Victoria. It is dedicated to addressing critical issues and fostering innovation in the region. The October breakfast left a lasting impact on all who attended, with its focus on body positivity and empowerment.

Keynote speaker, Australian of the Year, Taryn Brumfitt, is an award-winning filmmaker, a bestselling author, and a globally sought-after presenter. As the Co-Executive Director of The Embrace Collective, she has made it her mission to spread the message of body positivity and self-love.

All employers exhibiting at the Jobs Expo have multiple job vacancies that they are looking to fill. 

The Skills and Jobs Centre will be offering express resume checks and interview skills coaching on the day, along with a free sausage sizzle!

Women in Energy 

Gippsland Leaders Shining a Light on Energy Transition

Gippsland's role in the energy transition took centre stage in a recent Women in Energy Networking event in Melbourne. Bodye Darvill, Director Emerging Industries at LVA, and Nicola Pero, Executive Manager Offshore Engagement at Iberdrola Australia led an engaging discussion that illuminated the region's crucial role in shaping the future of energy. Bodye delved into data regarding Gippsland's existing energy generation profile and the extensive spectrum of renewable energy technologies proposed for the region. She provided insights into the region’s commitment to working together to understand the opportunities and embed the benefits that can come through energy transition.

Gippsland is unique in that its abundance of renewable resources allows for continued contribution to the nationwide and global shift towards clean energy. So whilst the region is participating in a global movement, it's also harnessing local opportunities and making a meaningful impact through tangible projects driving positive change.

Transform Expo 2023

Transform Expo: Powering Communities with Renewable Energy and Inspiration

For two days in October, the Latrobe Valley played host to the inaugural “Transform Expo” – an opportunity for the community to engage directly with the renewable energy industry, discover job and training opportunities in the sector and learn more about Gippsland’s renewable energy transformation.

An educational experience, attendees explored upcoming renewable energy projects, training programs and discovered the first steps towards a rewarding career in this ever-evolving sector.

Expert panellists and speakers shared their insights on an impressive array of topics, ranging from the significant role of women in renewables to the intricacies of building community-based energy initiatives.
