Join us this November, as all our libraries (with the exception of Newington) are now open, and our staff are waiting to welcome you back. Enjoy wandering around the book shelves and be inspired for your next great read, as many new books have started to arrive!

As part of International Day of People with a Disability, we are calling on all artists with a lived experience of disability to participate in our art competition. Enter now for a chance to win one of many great prizes.

This month we have more great author talks, a workshop to help you with your job search, talks in other languages and much more.

Visiting the library

Have you been back to the library since we've re-opened? Check out our opening hours and plan your visit! You can browse the shelves and pick up some books or reserve some items via the library catalogue  and collect at the library of your choice.

 

Closed for refurbishment

Epping Library will be closed for major refurbishment on Monday 6 December 2021 and will reopen from Thursday 3 March 2022. Library services will be temporarily relocated to Boronia Grove Community Centre, 40 Victoria Street, Epping from Thursday 9 December 2021 to Saturday 26 February 2022. Hours at this facility will be Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 9:30am to 12 noon. For more information or call 9806 5843.

 

International Day of People with Disability

This is a United Nations observed day held on 3 December, aimed at increasing public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with a disability. Join our celebrations at Parramatta Library and at Riverside Theatres, in association with Parramatta Artists Studios and Council's Community Capacity Building Team.

 

Art Competition IDPwD

Unleash your creativity with the art competition. Calling on all artists with a lived experience of disability! A joint partnership of the library, Community Capacity Building, Riverside Theatre and Parramatta Artists' Studio are hosting an art competition in recognition of the International Day of People with a Disability. Submissions close 27 November.

Korean book club

Want to talk about great Korean books you’ve read and receive recommendations on new books to read? Join Korean Book Club! 한국인들끼리 서로 좋은 한글 책을 추천하고 토론할 수 있는 독서 모임을 원하십니까? 파라마타 도서관의 한인 독서 모임에 여러분을 초대합니다. Starts Thursday 18 November then repeats on the third Thursday of every month online via Zoom. Job search workshop you prepare for

Learn how to interpret a job advertisement, write a resume, and a cover letter in this workshop. You'll also learn how to adequately prepare for a job interview. This program is in partnership with Navitas.

Learn about mental illness, including helpful strategies, and where to access help for yourself and loved ones. This program is in partnership with Bilingual Hospital 2 Home-One Door Mental Health. في هذه الندوة سنتكلم عن الصحة النفسية واثارها على صحة الجسم. وايضا عن انواع المرض النفسي و اعراضه. والاستراتيجيات التي نتبعها لتفادي الوقوع فيها.

Citizen of the Year Awards 2022

Do you know a local hero who deserves to be celebrated? Nominations for City of Parramatta’s Citizen of the Year Awards are now open. These awards are part of Council’s Australia Day program and there are many reasons to nominate. These include achievement in education, offering acts of kindness, a group or individual who has made a noteworthy contribution to the Parramatta community. Nominations close 5pm, 2 December.
