2 October 2024 Kia ora koutou In this update – Biosecurity New Zealand seeks proposals for tools or methods to eliminate exotic caulerpa. Request for proposals now on the GETS website Biosecurity New Zealand is seeking proposals for innovative tools and/or methods to eliminate exotic caulerpa seaweed from New Zealand's marine environments. Information is on the GETS website here. $6.3 million is available in conditional grant(s) funding to produce working prototypes that can be demonstrated to be effective by the end of the funded period on 30 June 2025. Sufficient time must also be allocated within this timeframe for the proposals to be evaluated. Biosecurity New Zealand has a three-person independent evaluation panel of experienced scientists and engineers to carry out the evaluation. Applications for the funding must be with Biosecurity New Zealand by 5pm on 15 October 2024. New Zealand-registered businesses, charities, Māori entities and incorporated representative bodies are all eligible to apply.
