Fridays are always busy for the DDD team when it’s newsletter week, but regular, reliable communication is at the heart of every good relationship, and the one we share with you – our loyal DataPoint readers – is no different. Over the past two and half years, we have published 50 editions of this e-newsletter, covering all the landmark events in one of the busiest periods in the history of the DDD programme. And you’ve been with us all the way!

To celebrate this 50th milestone we are compiling a list of our readers’ Top 50 Data Highlights over the past two years. Submit your highlight and you could win one of 10 mobile data vouchers worth R200 each. See below for details … and cheers to 50 editions of data-driven headlines!

Term 3 ended on a strong note, with the highest number of officials to date logging in to the dashboard in consecutive terms (known as “repeat users”). Here are the vital statistics:

14 058 active users   8 004 repeat users   15 414 schools   27 800 all-time users
Well over 14 000 officials logged in during Term 3, many of whom were new to DDD and exploring its benefits for the first time.   More than 8 000 officials who used DDD in Term 2, logged in again in Term 3. This is the highest number of repeat users to date.   Also in Term 3, more than 15 400 schools from around the country had one or more official using the DDD Dashboard.   Since the new version of the dashboard went live in late 2022, a grand total of 27 800 officials have logged in to the platform.

  DASHBOARD UPDATES

In the next few weeks you can expect to see an exciting new addition to the DDD Dashboard in the form of the first three role-specific views that are designed to give officials a customised summary of the metrics most relevant to their day-to-day work. Scroll down for more info. In the meantime, please keep an eye out for our annual Satisfaction Survey, which will land in your mail box next week. This survey is how we ensure that the dashboard still meets your needs, so your input is crucial.

ROLE-SPECIFIC VIEWS
Rolling out this month
  CHANGING UP!
Enhanced DDD landing page
  NEED A NEW BOOKMARK?
Log in via the DDD website
About 200 “early adopter” officials have already been given access to three new role-specific views, which include a Curriculum view, Principal’s view and Management & Governance view. These will be made available to all users on DDD within a month, so please watch your inbox for info and user guidelines.   To make navigating to the new role-specific views as logical as possible, and to help speed up dashboard loading time, we will be streamlining the landing page in the month ahead. This will include space for news of important updates or user tips. Read the next DataPoint to see what the new landing page will look like.   Many officials bookmark the URL for the dashboard login window. However, when certain technical updates are made this URL may change, which means you might receive an error the next time you click on it. Avoid this by using the green login button on the website instead. Click below for details.

As the EMIS Officer for Makhutswe Circuit in Mopani West, Limpopo, Mr Tsamake’s story of how they use the Learner Chart and School Achievement Reports to identify underperforming learners and subjects secured him a spot in the top five!   Ms Chauke led by example when she mastered DDD and set the right example for her school management team at Hanyani Nkuzana Secondary School in Limpopo. This principal’s commitment to accurate data capture earned her a place as a finalist.   As Chief Education Specialist in King Cetshwayo District, Kwazulu-Natal, Mr Moodley has earned kudos from colleagues (“amazing, enlightening!”) after using live demos to teach them how to navigate DDD, develop data stories and design interventions.
