Senior School Notices

TERM 1 WEEK 3

From the Head of Senior School

Dear valued member of the PLC community,

    Year 12 Ball

Last Saturday night, our Year 12 cohort enjoyed the glitz and glamour of their Hollywood Glamour themed ball at the Westin Hotel.

A huge thank you to the PLC staff and Year 12 parents who worked tirelessly to ensure this night was the huge success that it was.

    Lunar New Year

As part of our Lunar New Year celebrations this week, we had a professional Chinese artist, Xu Yang, visit both our Junior and Senior School campuses yesterday to share techniques of traditional Chinese ink brush painting.

Students have enjoyed Chinese food in the Senior School Cafeteria, decorating the Quad with Chinese lanterns, taking part in a Wishing Tree exercise and will also enjoy a Guzheng performance tomorrow at the Assembly.

    Rev Nalin's Reflections

Next Wednesday is known in the Christian calendar as “Ash Wednesday”, heralding the beginning of Lent, as the prelude to Easter. Many will attend worship to be anointed on the forehead with ash, acting as a reminder of the ancient Jewish tradition of penance and fasting. The early Hebrew Creation stories speak of God forming us from dust and being reminded with the words: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”.

    Women in Technology

PLC's first Women in Technology Evening is taking place on Wednesday 8 March from 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm. This is a unique opportunity to learn from a panel of successful women in Science, Medicine, Data Science, and Computing.

As technology continues to evolve and shape our world, it has never been more important to understand what role technology will play in the workforce students will enter after graduation. This Women in Technology Evening will feature female speakers from various industries, sharing their experiences and knowledge from their careers to date. This will be a valuable opportunity for students to ask questions and gain insight into what it takes to build a successful career.

This event is open to all year groups. It will be a fascinating and inspirational evening, well suited to students who are already interested in technology as well as students who aren’t sure what “jobs in tech” might mean, now and in the future.
