VANESSA GERRANS | CEO OF BIFB

Vanessa Gerrans' Career Journey

Vanessa Gerrans has been the CEO of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale (BIFB Inc) since 2022. With a background in directing museums and institutions, she assembled a new creative team to execute the 10th Anniversary of the Biennale.

RICHARD WEINSTEIN | PHOTOGRAPHER

Evoking Emotions Using Tools

As a photographer, we are always searching for that decisive moment – an instant when everything comes together to press the shutter, capturing attention and telling a story.

I was fortunate to be part of the larger crew shooting for the TVC, which was a much larger production with many people involved in the project. My brief was purpose-driven, focused on a specific layout for the key visuals, poster, and online content.

It's always a challenge to shoot under time constraints and unexpected weather conditions, but the collaboration with the talent and crew played a crucial role in the success of the project. The adaptability and creativity of everyone involved helped us overcome challenges and produce compelling images."

STYLING A DINNER PARTY

TONI + CO | RESIDENTIAL + COMMERCIAL INTERIOR DESIGN, DECORATING + STYLING & EVENT THEMING

Here are some inspiration ideas from a 21st Toni+Co styled, where the theme was PINK+ORANGE

  1. Pick a theme or style that includes a dominant colour and work out your crockery + linen from there
  2. Op shops are a great place to source dishes, glassware and retro/vintage crockery
  3. Fresh flowers or greenery such as figs, grape leaves, herbs etc are a must!
  4. Make sure you have an abundance of food and drinks as this gives your table a greater aesthetic impact and avoids visual gaps.
  5. Using various serving platters +boards in different sizes and shapes as well as varying heights will give your grazing table more visual appeal.

MY BOOKS

MY SECOND BOOK WILL BE AVAILABLE MARCH 2024 IN A DOWNLOADABLE PDF & SOFT COVER

Leap Into Your Creative Life

My new book ‘Leap Into Your Creative Life’ is a powerful mix of inspiring and practical advice for people who long for the work ‘they should be doing’. Over the years I’ve had consults with many people who want to enter the creative industry or change their creative direction but their lack of confidence to take the leap is the only thing holding them back. As well as not knowing how to begin. ‘Leap Into Your Creative Life’ gives you permission to change what you do – even who you are - and live your dream at any stage of your life.

MY FIRST BOOK IS AVAILABLE NOW

How To Develop Your Career As A Photographer

This Book is an invaluable help to all photographers starting out or starting again. It’s a summary of what I’ve learned through my own experience and from helping many other photographers over the years. You’ll find advice on finding and keeping clients, starting your own business, successfully negotiating the ups and downs and staying true to the way you see the world. It’s a practical guide because we all need to put the nuts and bolts in place. I also hope you’ll find it inspirational and motivating.
