Katherine JohnsonKatherine Johnson was the first African-American woman to work at NASA as a scientist. She was a mathematician who spent 33 years at NASA mastering complex manual calculations and whose calculations of orbital mechanics were crucial to the success of the first crewed space flights in the United States. Dr. Mabel Ping-Hua LeeMabel Ping-Hua Lee was a Chinese-American suffragette and activist. At just 15, Lee led a parade of 10,000 people in New York City for women's rights.
