I’ve gone through the standards available on the MPI website however I’ve not been able to ascertain whether such goods coming from Poland require a BMSB fumigation. Poland does not seem to be included on the list of risk countries. Would you please confirm the requirements if any for importing caravan from Poland, and if BMSB is required, are there any MPI approved treatment providers in Poland? Response Poland is not a schedule 3 country, not a country targeted for BMSB and no mandatory offshore fumigation is required. The caravan must meet Part 2 of the Import Health Standard (IHS) for Vehicles, Machinery, and Parts, and will be inspected on arrival to ascertain freedom of biosecurity contaminants. Please note if your caravan is transhipping a S3 country then the following requirements must be met Part 9.2. page 26, Transhipping vehicles, machinery, parts and tyres through a Schedule 3 country before arriving in New Zealand (without an MPI Approved System). Topic 2 – Manufacturer’s declaration Enquiry We have a customer that will be importing some new tyres from Canada shortly. I forwarded them a copy of the manufacturers declaration to have the shipper complete and sign, but just realised that because this is an LCL shipment, the manufacturer / supplier doesn’t have full visibility of the consignment through to loading in the FAK container, only up until it is collected by the local carrier at origin. What you recommend be done in this instance? Response The relevant section in the Import Health Standard (IHS) for Vehicles, Machinery, and Parts is sect. 7.2. The manufacturers declaration for new tyres for is under 7.2.1 (2) d). The manufacturers declaration can be filled out by the agent, or distributor if they can verify the mandatory requirements specified on the form, see below.
