Food Importer Registration To avoid unnecessary delays to their next consignments, New Zealand Food Safety is reaching out to importers of food for sale with a reminder that they need to have a valid Food Importer registration, and complete their Intended Use declarations for all consignments of food, drinks, and ingredients. New ECE Guidelines for Preparing Food There are new guidelines for preparing food in early learning services to reduce the risk of choking. If an Early Childhood Education (ECE) service decides to cook fruit and vegetables (instead of grating or cutting these into smaller sizes), then they will need to register under the Food Act 2014. If a ECE needs to register, it will be under a National Programme 2. Review: Modernising the FSANZ Act 1991 The review of the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991 (FSANZ Act) is underway. New Zealand Food Safety has guidance on foods permitted to include sulphites, and how to label these to ensure consumers are appropriately informed of the suitability of the food.
