RallySprint
RallySprint the Sequel Hello my friends, it has been a while since I last wrote an article for the Squeal. As some of you might know, last year was a season of firsts as we held our first ever RallySprint at Rausch Creek Off-Road Park. We managed to hold 2 events despite scheduling and weather issues. The first event was a dry event and, with some minor hiccups, ran quite well for a new program at a new venue. Our second event was a very unique one as, not only was it muddy, we ran it into the night. Even though the conditions weren’t great and some competitors had mechanical failures, everyone had a great time and kept asking when the next one was. We had great feedback from the volunteers, with whom we couldn’t have had any of the events. This season we are planning to come back with more events. All events will be single events, but set up as Saturday and Sunday events with a discounted rate for running both. The course is currently around 1.6 miles and we intend on extending it even more. The dates are as follows: • May 21st and 22nd • August 6th and 7th • August 27th and 28th • November 5th and 6th As previously mentioned, we cannot have these events without the help of our volunteers as this is not a race/work event like the RallyCross events. As a volunteer, your job is very simple. All most of the jobs require is that you watch the section that you’re working and radio in if anyone hits a cone/hay bale, goes off course, or has a mechanical issue disabling them. We will have a recovery vehicle and EMS on-site to deal with the issues that may arise. Other jobs will include, being a starter and launching the vehicles, finish line worker, and the ATC control worker after the finish. We plan to feed every volunteer that helps us out, last event we had hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, chips, and cookies. You also get to see some really fast vehicles race through the woods and over. If you are interested in being a volunteer, make sure that you sign up for the events when the registration opens up. It is important to note that these events are going to be full weekend events (Saturday and Sunday), but you do not have to register for both days. Camping on-site is free and others will be camping out as well. If this sounds like fun, we welcome you to join us this year for some high-speed racing action. If you have any questions regarding this program as a volunteer or as a competitor, please feel free to reach out to me at nlandis@scca-susq.com or on the Facebook group messenger. We're Looking for Help! We’re making some changes to the programs this year, and we’re interested in having a Membership Chief position for Autocross and Rallycross. We’re looking to grow the region, and we want new participants to become SCCA members. What does this mean? Well…
Then, this just may be for you! This would count as your worker assignment at each of the events. You’ll interact with people at the registration tent, and you’ll talk with people throughout the day, and provide help to people with questions and the event staff through the event days.
Waiting Patiently for RallyCross Hi All, Editor's note: Events are being built out, March Regional MeetingWe’re going to begin rotating venues in 2022!
