COVID UPDATE

With an easing of restrictions likely just a few weeks away, it's important we stay the course – follow the health advice, get tested at the first sign of symptoms and book a vaccination when where eligible.

If you need to get tested, Kilmore District Health's drive-through testing site at JJ Clancy Reserve in Kilmore is open from 9am-4pm, 7 days a week. There is also a testing clinic at Seymour Health.

Many of Council's services and facilities remain closed. Some are open for online service delivery. For a full list, please visit the Coronavirus section of our website.

New oak trees on Anzac Avenue Seymour

NEW TREES Oaks line Anzac Avenue once again

Residents and visitors will soon be able to enjoy a stroll along Seymour’s Anzac Avenue under a lush green canopy with the planting of 28 English Oak trees last week.

At 2.5metres tall and in full leaf, the new oaks have already made an impact on the streetscape of Anzac Avenue.

The oaks will help recreate the avenue of trees along Anzac Avenue that was first planted in 1917 in memory of the soldiers who had enlisted for service.

This project was part funded by The Seymour We Want group through a $10,000 grant from the Victorian Government’s Pick My Project initiative.

FOCUS ON CLIMATE Council to work on action plan

Mitchell Shire Council voted to acknowledge we are in a Climate Emergency, at last month’s Council meeting.

By acknowledging a climate emergency, Council publicly recognises the urgent need for action at a scale and speed that will restore a safe climate, with the least possible loss and damage to ecosystems, the economy and society.

Together with the acknowledgement, Council also refers funding to the 2022/2023 Environment and Sustainability operational budget to fund the development of a Climate Emergency Action Plan, including community and stakeholder engagement.
