NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week 2026 - 50 Years Deadly

NAIDOC week takes place in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday) and this year runs from 5 through to 13 July.

NAIDOC week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. This year NAIDOC Week marks 50 years of honouring the voices, cultures and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2026 theme is '50 Years Deadly'.

The Uniting Church in Australia have published a prayer written for the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC week by Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress National Co-Chair and Uniting Church Minister, Rev Will Pickett.

Click below to read the prayer and find helpful links to resources and more on the Assembly website.
