Hello  ACORNS subscriber

This month, we are very pleased to release our much-anticipated Dossier for MONDIACULT 2025 titled Charting the future: culture as our compass which is available in English and Spanish with French and Catalan soon to be released.

Drawing on the knowledge and expertise of the IFACCA Secretariat and the Federation – and informed by the expertise and lived experiences of those working in the CCS worldwide shared with us during the 10th World Summit – this dossier offers our perspective on the thematic areas and priorities for the post-2030 agenda, in the lead up to the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – MONDIACULT 2025. We recognise that MONDIACULT 2025 is an important moment for governments and policymakers from around the world to set their own priorities and prepare the case for culture within that agenda. In addition to this Dossier, IFACCA’s participation at MONDIACULT 2025 consists of: the IFACCA Delegation made up of IFACCA National Member institutions; a curated side event at MONDIACULT 2025 titled Sustainable pathways for charting the future of arts and culture: In conversation with public agencies on Monday 29 September in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Spain; IFACCA member activities including regional chapter meetings as well as participation in other side events as knowledge partners.

IFACCA acknowledges the leadership role and critical work of UNESCO in shaping and guiding this important meeting in Barcelona, Spain on 29 September – 1 October as well as the Ministry of Culture of Spain, IFACCA National Member, for its vision, impressive work on the ground and advocacy. We are also grateful to the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CoNCA), Catalonia, for their support in organising our member activities in Barcelona.

This month also marks the end of an important cycle as we farewell Ms Kristin Danielsen, CEO of Arts and Culture Norway as she concludes her term as IFACCA’s Chair. Ms Danielsen was appointed Chair of the IFACCA Board on 1 July 2023 and her term will conclude on 31 August 2025. She is succeeded by Ms Kajsa Ravin, Director General of the Swedish Arts Council who was unanimously elected by the IFACCA Board and will commence as Chair on 1 September 2025 and lead the IFACCA Delegation at MONDIACULT 2025.

On Ms Danielsen’s tenure, Ms Moreno Mujica said, “Kristin Danielsen is a visionary cultural leader committed to advancing arts and culture for all, and we thank her for the dedication, strategic thinking and passion she has brought to the role in her time as Chair.” She has guided us through the most recent World Summit as well as several strategic initiatives such as our IFACCA-Globus Fellowship and recent key report such as Culture as a Public Good: Navigating its role in policy debates, and various key convenings across the world, at a time when the world is so fragile.”

“Serving as Chair since May 2023 has been a profound experience. It has deepened my understanding of the global cultural ecosystem and strengthened my belief in the importance of coming together to learn from one another. IFACCA is more than a federation; it is a living, breathing community of practice in action. And it is in this community that I have found some of the most meaningful conversations and collaborations in my professional life so far.”  You can read Ms Danielsen’s reflections here.

On behalf of the Federation, we thank her for her great contributions in her role as Chair of the IFACCA Board and wish her all the very best in her new role as Director of the Nordic Culture Fund.

Iberoamericano
