No images? Click here Hi, my name is Jonny and I manage the Langwith College Team. Alongside Chenaiyi (College Administrator), Mollie (College Life Coordinator) and Eleanor and Joseph (College Life Advisors), we work together to make sure that every student in Langwith is welcomed to their new community and is able to make the most of their time at University. The University has eleven colleges and you are a college member of Langwith. You may be living on campus in Langwith, or off campus and you chose or were assigned to Langwith because it is close to your academic department. Whatever the reason, we are very happy to welcome you. We have organised an online induction in advance of your arrival, so that you have an opportunity to find out what it will be like when you arrive. Take a look at our website and join our official Facebook and Instagram pages to find out more about the college and what’s planned for when you arrive. Wentworth College and the GSAAs a postgraduate, you will also have access to many of the events and activities hosted by Wentworth College, which is the only college purely dedicated to the graduate student experience. You’ll also be a member of our Graduate Students' Association (GSA), the primary representative body for all registered postgraduate students at York. We encourage you to make use of their services and take part in their variety of regular postgraduate events and activities. Online inductionCompleting the online induction is a great place to start your university journey. York prides itself on being a community built on respect, and this induction explains more about the community you will be joining and our values. It is packed with useful information and resources to support you through your first few weeks. Pre-arrival surveyWe are keen to hear from you. Please complete our pre-arrival survey and share with us your interests and ambitions or feel free to ask a question. Arrivals information (if living on campus)Postgraduate students living on campus are encouraged to arrive into college from Monday 19 September. When you accept your accommodation offer you will be asked to confirm this date or notify us of an alternative. Time restrictions may be in place after Friday 23 September and we strongly advise that you try to avoid arriving on Saturday 24 September due to the large number of people expected for undergraduate arrivals. If you are arriving by car, your nearest campus car park is the Field Lane Car Park, which can also be found using laser.ranges.member via the What3Words app. On your arrival, please go to Langwith Reception where college staff and undergraduate student volunteers called STYCs (Second and Third Year Contacts) will welcome you, help you pick up your keys and find your accommodation block. Students will not be able to access University accommodation until their confirmed contract start date in their accommodation offer. Please ensure you plan to arrive on or after this date. If you have an additional support need, or exceptional circumstances that will require you to arrive early, please contact our student support team and accommodation team to discuss earlier access. Once you’ve arrived, there will be planned welcome events and activities organised by Langwith and the GSA to help you meet other new students. You'll also have the opportunity to join campus and city tours.International students - travel adviceFree airport collections from Manchester Airport will be available for students on Monday 19 September, Friday 23 September and Saturday 24 September, but must be booked in advance. If you are arriving into the UK via another airport, or by another mode of transport, further advice can be found on our travelling to York pages. For more information about planning your journey, what to do upon arrival, as well as our getting ready checklist, please see our International Students Welcome to York guide. If you have any questions, queries or problems relating to your travel arrangements, please contact the University’s International support team. It is an important part of the year and we encourage you to take part.Langwith and the Graduate Students' Association (GSA) have planned a range of events and activities for you to meet other postgraduates.
