Apply Now for 2025-2026 ITHS Pilot Awards

ITHS is happy to announce that the application period for the 2025–2026 ITHS Pilot Program awards is now open. This program offers a wonderful opportunity for investigators from the five-state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho) to receive funding to help their new research projects get off the ground. Letters of Intent for these awards are due on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

NEW RESEARCH FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT

We are pleased to announce our partners at WE-REACH are offering a new quick turn-around funding opportunity for UW-affiliated teams that are advancing their therapeutic, device, and diagnostic life science products through key developmental milestones. Teams can apply for up to $150,000 to be used within 10 months of the award start date, which will be July 29, 2024.

DON'T MISS THE DEADLINE!

Expo 24: ITHS Symposium & Poster Session

The 2024 Expo & Symposium was a rousing success this year, attracting over 100 guests on a warm spring afternoon. Held at the Center for Urban Horticulture on the east side of the University of Washington campus, the event created a vibrant atmosphere for attendees eager to explore the latest advancements in health and technology. Guests were treated to engaging talks from two keynote speakers who delved into the fascinating w orld of nanotechnology in medicine. These keynotes set the stage for an afternoon filled with inspiring and informative presentations, including a series of lightning talks from a diverse group of experts.

A RELATIONSHIP-BASED FRAMEWORK FOR CLINICAL RESEARCH: ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS BEYOND INFORMED CONSENT

ITHS GRAND ROUNDS – TRANSDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES TO MITIGATE PERSISTENT INEQUITIES IN QUALITY AND OUTCOMES OF HEALTH CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

In this session, Carol Haywood, PhD, OTR/L will discuss underrecognized health care disparities experienced by people with disabilities in the United States, highlighting findings from studies that examined patient and physician perspectives to understand barriers to equitable care. Dr. Haywood will also discuss opportunities to advance health care equity for people with disabilities, including the use of human-centered design and implementation science approaches to develop pragmatic and effective interventions.

HYBRID PUBLIC WORKSHOP: Artificial Intelligence in Drug & Biological Product Development

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in collaboration with the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative (CTTI), is convening a hybrid public workshop on AI in drug and biological product development. 12-week Grant Writing Program tailored for junior faculty.  Upon completion, participants are expected to have drafted a comprehensive grant proposal ready for submission to a funding organization.

UPDATED TL1 OFFERING: Unique Funding Opportunity for Pre-Doctoral Researchers

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is offering a unique funding opportunity for students interested in basic or patient-oriented research related to conditions that co-occur with Down syndrome, linked to awards held by ITHS.

New: Predoctoral students at the University of Washington and Montana State University who meet T32/TL1 eligibility criteria can request 2 years of support for stipend and tuition.

SCRC 2024 Request for Application - $100,000 Pilot Grants in Suicide Research  

Key Upcoming Dates

ITHS: SUPPORTING RESEARCH EFFORTS OF JUNIOR INVESTIGATORS

The ITHS offers Catalyst Awards  to provide “just-in-time” resources especially to early  career investigators looking to complete a project or collect pilot data for a larger grant application.  

The ITHS also offers Voucher Awards as “in-kind” service vouchers in support of outstanding translational research.
