Cal/OSHA revised their COVID-19 ETS FAQ late last night to incorporate the recent changes to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidance on isolation and quarantine periods following a COVID-19 positive test or a COVID-19 exposure. The link above will take you to the revised section, which you should refer to when determining when and for how
long an employee needs to quarantine.
An important piece to note is that there are differences in some cases between how vaccinated and unvaccinated employees are treated, so it is necessary to verify and track vaccination status of your employees if you are not already doing so. See UCON's COVID-19 Vaccination FAQ for guidance in this area. A sample vaccination self-certification form is available to UCON contractor members in our Contractor Resources Library (log-in required).
There is also confusion over the discrepancies between guidance from CDPH and the CDC. California employers need to follow the CDPH and Cal/OSHA guidance and rules, NOT the CDC.
Cal/OSHA is expected to revise their FAQ again once their re-adopted COVID-19 ETS goes into effect on January 14, 2022. UCON's December 2021 update provides details on the revisions, and a recording of a Fisher Phillips webinar earlier this week is available on UCON's COVID-19 Resources Page.
