All EVST majors are invited to attend the second session of senior essay presentations on December 11th from 7:00-8:00 pm in Burke Auditorium, Kroon Hall. Seniors will present their senior essay research in 3 minutes. Come to learn about the senior essay process and to celebrate the success of the EVST Class of 2025! Light refreshments available.
Summer Opportunities
Scholarships available for Middlebury School of the Environment's six-week place-based curriculum in sustainability and leadership at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California. For six weeks Monterey is a laboratory for exploring climate resilience, food justice, restoration of marine ecosystems, urban sustainability, and political and social commitment to change. Need-based financial aid and scholarships are available in the following areas: using storytelling and media to help influence environmental change; environmental science and ecology and environmental equity, justice and conflict transformation. Priority deadline for funding is January 15th, so now is great time to start an application.
Environmental Law Institute is hiring new Research Associates for Summer 2025! Apply by January 13th. EVST grads Dara Albrecht '23 and Sebastian Duque-Rios '24 are both Research Associates and Jordan Perry '21 recently ended her term to start law school so EVST has had a strong showing at ELI! If you would like to set up a meeting to learn more about the fellowship or review your application or story pitch, please reserve a time before December 12 or in January.
Behavior, Ecology and Conservation Research Opportunity in Argentina May 26-July 18, 2025 | Dr. Eduardo Fernandez-Duque, Yale University and Dr. Alba García de la Chica, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina are seeking six undergrad students to join a yearlong program that includes preparatory training during the Spring, field research during 8-weeks (May 26-July 18, 2025) and data analyses and writing up of results during the following fall. Participants in the program will conduct research on animal behavior, ecology, and conservation in Formosa, a province located in northeast Argentina. The program will cover domestic and international travel to and from the field site, lodging and transportation and receive a $4,000 stipend; a first payment will be provided before the program begins, the remaining payments will be made through the program and when it finishes.
