In a spectacular move, Alexander Bowden earned the team a place in the Leinster Senior Cup with a drop kick 10 metres from the posts in the 70th minute of play when The High School trailed Catholic University School by one point. Two minutes later it was game over. This was the moment that the team have been training and playing for: the return of The High School to top-flight competition in the Leinster Senior Cup. The High School will contest the first round of the competition against Blackrock College on Friday 2 February at 2.30 pm: further details will be announced on HSD social media channels. We hope to colour the stands with a large crowd sporting red and black, so please join us for what promises to be a momentous game for the whole school community. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hockey Ireland Olympic QualificationCongratulations to past pupils Shane O'Donoghue (HSD, 2008-2011) who scored a goal in the 4-3 victory against Korea which resulted in Ireland qualifying for the Men’s Olympic Hockey tournament for only the third time in the history of the competition. This is the first time that both years will have had a taste of what a state examination feels like. For a lot of us it may be a daunting time but it’s important to remember that the mocks are just mocks! They’re there to help us see where we are at and what we need to work on. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise regularly – this is the best way to help our brains during this busy period. Extend gratitude towards your teachers, friends, and family – they are there to help you! Don’t get too stressed, no matter how overwhelming the exams may feel. Remember that your best is your best, and that’s the most important thing to keep in mind. We wish everyone
the best of luck: we believe in you! Mock Examination Timetable 2024![]() Dates for your Diary
