UW LIBRARIES “MOST WANTED” RESEARCHER SUMMER SERIES

This summer workshop series focuses on the tools and topics UW researchers are asking about. We welcome all members of the research community, including graduate students, postdocs, research staff, clinicians, and faculty members. These workshops will teach a variety of skills and formats to:

  • Expand the visibility of your research.

  • Effectively communicate research findings and impact in new and non-traditional ways.

  • Enhance your research portfolio for tenure and future career opportunities.

  • Connect with others at UW to extend your research networks.

Sessions are online, so you can take advantage of this learning from any location, just in time for the start of the 2024/2025 school year. Where Informatics and Mental Health Come Together

The ITHS profile series is meant to shine a deserving spotlight on individuals within the institute doing critical work across the vast spectrum of translational science.  In our July installment, we are focusing on the vibrant career of Dr. Kari A. Stephens, a longtime faculty contributor to our community engagement program. 

Before arriving at ITHS, Dr. Stephens’ career path was marked by two distinct phases: Information technology and psychology. Her multidisciplinary background provides a unique lens through which she approaches her work, merging the realms of informatics and mental health care. ITHS REDCap TRAINING CLASSES 

Now available on-demand via the TREE LMS!

The ITHS-developed Translational Research Education Engine (TREE) learning management system was recently rebuilt and updated to provide a more user-friendly platform that offers an engaging, interactive learner experience. The new TREE offers educational opportunities and content hosting services for the greater clinical and translational science community.

On-demand training for REDCap is now available for select courses on TREE. For a list of courses, visit this link. These courses are open enrollment, but you must create a new account upon first access to the new LMS. Read more >>

TEAM SCIENCE SEMINAR SERIES ONLINE NOW!

Launched during the 2022-2023 academic year, the annual Team Science Seminar Series was developed to assist early career researchers in addressing challenges to collaboration and collective team functioning, improving their ability to lead interdisciplinary teams, communicate and build trust with their collaborators, and identify the best ways to solve problems collaboratively. Topics include:

  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Teaming strategies for different contexts
  • Strategies to address conflict
  • How to find and engage community partners
  • Addressing conflict challenges including microaggressions, hierarchy, and delivering on commitments
  • Leadership, delegation, and managing up
 
 

DISSEMINATION AND IMPLEMENTATION SCIENCE INSTITUTE PROGRAM

This in-person program is ideal for doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior and more-established faculty from universities and research institutes who wish to deepen their understanding of implementation science and receive personalized advice from experts on their research proposals.

The Institute will consist of a three-day in-person training session taking place in St. Louis on October 28-30, 2024.

This program offers a wonderful opportunity for investigators from the five-state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho) to receive funding to help their new research projects get off the ground.

  • Award period: March 1, 2025–February 28, 2026

REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS: SCRC PILOT GRANTS PROGRAM

The UW Suicide Care Research Center recently announced their Request for Applications for 2-year $100,000 pilot and developmental research projects that aim to develop, refine, and/or implement scalable innovative interventions or services along SCRC’s Suicide Care Pathway for adolescents and young adults (ages 13-30) in outpatient medical settings.     

As a reminder, detailed Letters of Intent are due on September 15, 2024 and SCRC strongly recommends teams obtain consultation with Center faculty Kate Comtois or Molly Adrian prior to submission (you may submit an LOI without prior consultation).     

The window for pre-LOI consultation closes August 15, 2024. 

To obtain pre-LOI consultation, please sign up here and send your Specific Aims page and responses to the LOI questions (see the RFA) in a word document 3 days prior to uwscrc@uw.edu.

The ITHS offers Catalyst Awards  to provide “just-in-time” resources especially to early  career investigators looking to complete a project or collect pilot data for a larger grant application.  

The ITHS also offers Voucher Awards as “in-kind” service vouchers in support of outstanding translational research.
