Senior School NewsThis has been such a big week at Sedbergh that this week's newsletter could well be called, "The Wilson Run edition"! Our cover image, courtesy of Mr Cooling, is girls' winner Hannah crossing the very muddy Baugh Fell. Please see the recap below (which includes links to download race images) for the full details. The last fortnight has seen other wonderful events too. The annual Pathways Fair, revitalised for 2024, was a triumph and pupil feedback is featured in a short video below. There has also been the hotly contested House Singing Competition and a performance of Carmina Burana in the Hirst Centre. In assembly this week we celebrated the achievement of our brilliant mathematicians; India and Charles who received Gold Awards in the Intermediate Maths Challenge plus Jack, Stepan and Sonia who achieved Silver Awards. Domenico won both Bronze and Silver Awards at the Inspiring Digital Enterprise Awards. Last, but definitely not least, our senior team of Angus, Sam, Luke and Sara won the trophy at the Rotary BAE Systems Technology Tournament. We've also been active promoting the School. Last week the Headmaster, Mr Harrison was joined in London by our Marketing and Admissions teams to launch our exciting new 9 Inspire, year 9 curriculum. Whilst the School hosted a large group of international agents. We wish you all a wonderful break and end with a reminder that tickets for upcoming performances - including Bugsy Malone in May - are now available on our website. The weekly Sports Report is available here. The 2024 Wilson Run RecapThe 2024 Wilson Run was won by Dan in 1:20:27 and Hannah in 1:41:02. While the weather was unusually kind for the race itself, the course was arguably the worst that Mr Wells, the Race Director, has ever seen. “Unprecedented rainfall over the past few weeks has meant that the course, Baugh Fell in particular, is completely saturated,” with the result that it was very difficult conditions. Nonetheless, the atmosphere created by parents, pupils, Old Sedberghians and our Casterton pupils to cheer the runners down the home straight on Lupton field was incredible. FINISH LINE photos are now available for download and this year we have additional photos taken from BAUGH FELL. The button below links through to our website and if you missed out on a brochure and would like to get a copy - you can find that and short clips of the winners. Your Invitation to the Sedbergh National TensThis weekend we are delighted to welcome the Sedbergh National Tens back to the School for a weekend of incredible rugby; arguably some of the best U18 players in the country - including Sedbergh's own First team. Play goes over two days and everyone is welcome to attend - but if that isn't possible, information on groups, fixtures and timing, plus live stream links has been made available by our partners NextGen at the link below. Annual Pathways FairLast week, we hosted our annual Pathways Fair, a cornerstone event in the School's commitment to supporting students with decision making throughout their time at Sedbergh. During the course of the afternoon, pupils were able to meet with representatives from 23 respected universities and employers.
