REMINDER: Grants.gov Downtime Impacts September 22-30 Application Due Dates

Grants.gov will be migrated to the cloud between the dates of September 23, 2022, and September 30, 2022, inclusive. Grants.gov will be unavailable to users during this extended period to allow for a successful transition.

Federal sponsors require applications to be submitted through Grants.gov. To meet this requirement, the University of Iowa uses Cayuse, a system-to-system submission portal to Grants.gov.

Applications can still be initiated and developed in Cayuse during the scheduled Grants.gov downtime. However, no applications can be submitted through Grants.gov between September 23 and September 30, 2022, including those prepared in Cayuse.

What does this mean if you will be applying for a grant with a deadline that falls within the time Grants.gov is down?

To mitigate the impact, NIH due dates that fall on or between Thursday, September 22, and Friday, September 30, 2022, will move to October 3, 2022. Please review the following information provided by the NIH regarding this issue:

  • Adjustments to NIH and AHRQ Grant Application Due Dates Between September 22 and September 30, 2022
  • Extended Grants.gov Downtime Impacts September 22-30 Due Dates

However, there may be other federal sponsors who will not move their due dates to accommodate the Grants.gov downtime. If this is the case, you must plan to use September 22, 2022, or before, as the due date. Please remember that proposals must be routed through DSP at least five (5) business days before the deadline. If you must use September 22 as your deadline, then the routing form should arrive in DSP by September 15, 2022.
