The Uniting Church in Australia welcomes with joy the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, marking a historic and hopeful first step toward ending the devastating conflict which began on 7 October 2023.

  • WCC welcomes news of ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas (WCC) - World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay welcomed the news of a ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas.
  • Chef’s table luncheons take dining to the next level (Juniper) - Juniper’s hospitality team is keeping dining fresh, tasty and entertaining with its chef’s table luncheons.
  • Call for Environmental Protection Action - Drawing on the Uniting Church WA Synod’s previous calls for commitments to keep greenhouse gas emissions low and for the state government to not approve any new or expanded fossil fuel projects, UCWA Moderator Rev Dr Ian Tozer has written to the Federal Environment Minister calling on them to disallow the North West Shelf Gas Extension Project. This matter has been referred for consideration under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.  A copy of the Moderator's letter is available here. The UCWA Social Justice Commission are encouraging concerned community to also write to Minister Tanya Plibersek regarding this matter by early February 2025.  If you would like to find out more about this issue you can read more on the Conservation Council WA Go Beyond Gas website or the Australian Conservation Foundation letter writing page here. 
  • ARRCC WA AGM - An open invitation is extended by the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change - WA Chapter, to attend their AGM on Tuesday 4 February at Quaker House, 35 Clifton St, Mt Lawley.  Gathering informally from 4.00pm for AGM 5.00pm.  Online access via Zoom will also be available.   • Time to Celebrate - Rev Des Cousins will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of his ordination on Sunday 2 February, 9.30am. All Saints Floreat Uniting Church is fortunate to be hosting this celebration as part of our morning worship service. Rev Dr Ian Tozer will be preaching, and Rev Des and Rev Reuben will be co-presiding over communion together. As it is a celebration of ordination, you are invited to wear something red.
  • New Discipline Regulations Webinar - join the Uniting Centre for Education and formation for an informative webinar with Rev Sharon Hollis (Past President of the Uniting Church), who will guide us through the recent changes to the Uniting Church Regulations concerning discipline. The revised Section 5 of the Regulations will come into effect on 1 January 2025, and this session will help members of the Uniting Church understand these updates and their implications.  Monday, 3 February 2025, 9.00am to 10.30am, online via Zoom.
