BSLM Update: Future ConferencesWith Dr Fraser QuinWe have a little update in regards to our future conferences: "In order to secure the venues that we need and want, we have to plan for the annal conference up to 4 years in advance. This is because venues that suit or requirement in terms of size, rooms, and expertise, tend to be booked up years in advance, and particularly in September. We can announce therefore that our next four conferences through to 2028 will be: 2025 Brighton 2026 Warwick University 2027 Llandudno 2028 Somewhere in Scotland (Venue TBC) We will then hope to rotate around our venues in coming years, so have the comfort of knowing each venue intimately, and they in turn understand our complex requirements. We do of course, continue to look for new venue opportunities, but will only create other partnerships if the reasons are compelling. We want you to be involved as much as possible, this is why we have chosen locations which we feel reach a large portion of the UK. If you have any queries or suggestions at this stage, we'd welcome you to get in touch and we will consider your input as our BSLM communities voice is important to us." If you'd like to put your thoughts forward, do email us on office@bslm.org.uk. We'd love to hear from you! What's happening in Our Communities?NEW Feature: Voices of Lived Experience!A long time ago the call for Voices of Lived Experience was a regular request in our newsletters. We're now proud to present our very own dedicated Voices of Lived Experience Group and the community it's creating within BSLM! The group is comprised of passionate individuals who have all used lifestyle medicine to manage, and even reverse, a chronic illness or condition. While the voice of patients and those with lived experience has always been so important to us, we are now in a position to ensure this voice is even louder. The group are dedicating their time to help us bring the patient voice to the forefront of everything we do at BSLM and ensure that everyone can have their voices and experiences heard. From creating resources, to helping eliminate barriers for others accessing lifestyle medicine education, and by sharing their own personal journeys, they offer not only a powerful perspective but also hope to others who may be navigating similar paths. Have a peek below to meet each member of this fantastic group. If you’d like to join the group and share your experiences with us, please get in touch and register your interest. Additionally, the group will be helping us to create resources for members and others living with similar conditions, so if there are any areas you’d like to suggest the group focus, or any other input you wanted to provide without being involved you can drop Rachel Cox, our Communities Officer, an email. We look forward to having a regular feature within the Newsletter to share any stories, new members, updates and hopefully more in the future! Our monthly Live Well UpdateWith the Live Well East Lothian TeamA big thank you! Thank you to the Stafford Trust for their generous grant of £5,000 to Live Well East Lothian. This support means a great deal to our participants, their family and carers, our instructors and the wider Live Well and BSLM team. The charity has been running since 1992 and it is with these generous contributions and a belief in our mission that we are able to keep providing such a critical service in our community. This grant will not only help us continue running classes, supporting the physical, mental and social wellbeing of East Lothian residents, but will enable us to grow and expand our reach across the county, impacting the lives of more individuals giving them access to the resources they need to live well.
