SEATTLE REDCAPCON A BIG SUCCESS

This September, ITHS played host to REDCapCon 2023, an international networking & learning event for REDcap administrators. The three-day gathering in Seattle, held at the Westin Hotel, was dedicated to the exploration of cutting-edge research and data management techniques as well as networking with peers. With an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, workshops, and interactive sessions, REDCapCon 2023 succeeded in not only educating and inspiring participants but also fostering vital connections among professionals from diverse fields. 

One of the standout achievements of REDCapCon 2023 was how it allowed attendees to forge connections that transcend geographical boundaries. More than 450 people attended from 19 countries – a record-breaking crowd for this event!  Read more>>>

 
 
 
 

ITHS TEAM SCIENCE SEMINAR SERIES KICKS OFF FOR 2023-2024 

The 2023–2024 Team Science Seminar Series is kicking off next week with the session Introduction to the Team Science Seminar Series 2023-2024: Teamwork and Collaboration. The 10 events in this free series will be offered the first Thursday of each month, 12:00–1:00pm Pacific, beginning October 5th.

ITHS PARTNERS RECEIVE $9M GRANT TO EXPLORE IMPACT OF EXTREME STRESS & GENDER 

Top scholars at the University of Montana’s Center for Work Physiology and Exercise Metabolism (WPEM) are studying how the human body reacts when subjected to extreme environmental stressors –and how gender may play a role. The work of these ITHS partners has attracted the attention of the U.S. military with $9 million in grants. Read more>>>

SAVE THE DATE: UW ARPA-H Open House

ARPA-H is the newest entity established within the National Institutes of Health, explicitly set up as an independent agency within NIH to benefit from the NIH’s vast scientific and administrative expertise and resources while still being nimble and forward-thinking.

The newly-formed UW ARPA-H Committee will identify key opportunities for collaboration, provide feedback on abstracts and assist with team development, and socialize ARPA-H across the UW research community.

Now, the UW ARPA-H Committee Open House is on the calendar and we'd love to see you there. Attendance is virtual and the focus will be learning about the newest federal agency funding health innovation!

ITHS/PRIMATE CENTER IGNITION AWARD OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS

The purpose of this pilot award program is to explore innovative areas of nonhuman primate research and generate preliminary data to serve as a basis for submission of new research grant applications (e.g., R01-type grant to NIH or other funding agency) and/or subsequent clinical studies.

ITHS: SUPPORTING RESEARCH EFFORTS OF JUNIOR INVESTIGATORS

The ITHS offers Catalyst Awards  to provide “just-in-time” resources especially to early  career investigators looking to complete a project or collect pilot data for a larger grant application.  

The ITHS also offers Voucher Awards as “in-kind” service vouchers in support of outstanding translational research. 

Final deadline this year: October 1, 2023

2024 deadlines for the Catalyst and Voucher awards: 

  • January 1, 2024
  • April 1, 2024
  • July 1, 2024
  • October 1, 2024
 
 

OPEN NOW: POPULATION HEALTH TIER 1 GRANTS: LAYING THE FOUNDATION

The purpose of this tier of grants is to support researchers in laying the foundation for a future project to generate proof-of-concept. Think of these as 'entry level' projects. 

Applications for Tier 1 grants for projects seeking to build a foundation for more expansive work will be accepted every autumn, winter and spring on the following timelines:

Autumn Quarter 2023

  • Application Due: October 2, 2023 (11:59 p.m. Pacific)
  • Award Notification Made: mid-November, 2023
  • Period of Performance: January 1, 2024 – August 31, 2024
