Bring your voice to health care regulation—join the BC Public Advisory Group!

The BC Public Advisory Group is a new initiative formed by seven health regulatory colleges in the province who work to protect the public by making sure that regulated health-care professionals--such as doctors, nurses and physiotherapists--are qualified and provide safe care.

The advisory group is looking to add several members of the public who may have experience interacting with a variety of different health care professionals in different practice settings (e.g. clinics, hospitals, long-term care homes), although experience with the health care system is not a requirement. The goal is to form a group that can help represent the diversity of the BC population.

Members of the BC Public Advisory Group will be asked to provide their feedback on important issues related to health care regulation, such as professional standards and policies, strategic priorities and communications directed at the public.

The group is currently in a pilot phase. During the pilot phase, two in-person meetings will be held in Vancouver. The first meeting will take place in September (date to be determined). Members will be compensated for meeting attendance, as well as for travel and accommodation costs.
