This theme of translating more of our Australian research into medical products to improve health outcomes was discussed at the recent AmCham South Australia event. We heard a keynote from Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care and Jaala joined a panel discussion with Professor Caroline McMillen, Dr Deborah Rathjen from Carina Biotech, Brent Barnes from LBT Innovations and Professor Michael Penniment from the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy and Research. During October the SA Insights Series will feature medtech company Micro-X, trailblazers in imaging and radiography technologies, and hosted at Tonsley Innovation District with a tour of Micro-X’s cutting edge facilities. In Perth, our WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub is hosting a Media and Profile Building Workshop for companies interested in building corporate reputation. We also farewell Stephanie Morris from our team in South Australia. - A drug invented in Melbourne to treat a lethal bone marrow cancer is set to become a global blockbuster for GSK after US regulators approved it as a treatment for myelofibrosis. Momelotinib was invented by an Australian team in the late 1990s, and the drug was purchased by GSK in 2022 for $US1.9 billion.
