Can the Griz One day left of Can the Griz! Can the Griz is a friendly off-field competition between Montana State University and the University of Montana to see who can raise the most food and funds for their local food bank. This is the biggest food drive of the year. Last year's Can the Griz raised over 600,00 pounds and dollars for GVFB and the Bounty of the Bridgers, MSU's campus food pantry. Visit canthegriz.org to see the many ways you can still help Can the Griz! Huffing For Stuffing HRDC's 17th annual Huffing For Stuffing is next week! Huffing For Stuffing combines community spirit with a lively race atmosphere to improve the lives of many of our community members. Since its inception in 2007, Huffing For Stuffing has provided over half a million dollars in funding to GVFB. The race is held each Thanksgiving morning at the Museum of the Rockies. To register, visit the Huffing For Stuffing website. We are still looking for volunteers, and we are in particular need of support on race day! To learn more and sign up, visit this link. Town Pump Campaign Through November 30, local Town Pump employees are asking customers to support us by adding a donation for us to their purchase. Town Pump Charitable Foundation will also match donations made for us throughout this period up to $40,000. Their campaign, "Be a Friend in Deed, Help Those in Need" will benefit all three HRDC food banks! HRDC's Market Place will be home to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, the Fork & Spoon pay-what-you-can restaurant, Healthy KidsPack & KidsPantry, Kids Summer Lunch, Senior Groceries, and more. Many other HRDC staff that work closely with customers will also be relocated to Market Place. It will allow customers to access multiple interventions in one place at one time, meaning we reduce
the amount of time customers are facing instability. Annual Report Highlights Last fiscal year, GVFB saw a 28% increase in food box (5-day supply of groceries) distributions compared to the previous year. We have observed this increase in need across HRDC's Food & Nutrition programs. Our customers have been deeply impacted by the decrease in federal programs that were available at the height of the pandemic, as well as the increased cost of food, housing, and gas. We are working hard to make sure our customers never have to choose between gas and nutritious food. We could not do so without our local partners, donors, and volunteers.
