Happy New Year

Dear Friend,

The month of January is about fresh starts, but I realize I am not done embracing November and December. I am not ready to move on because it is hard to think we have thanked our community enough for all they have done to make sure the basic need of food is available to everyone. 

In an effort to reflect and thank our community, here goes…You have stood out in the cold to host well over 23 store food drives. There were two 12 hours of giving events by our local radio stations, amounting to well over 70,000 pounds and dollars! School students at 19 schools, one by one, contributed what they could to help pile up over 30,000 pounds of food as a competition, but also as an act of compassion. There were a number of door-to-door food drives, 98 drop off sites, and 31 individual food drives—and these are just the ones we know about. There were round up events at Murdoch’s, Safeway, Albertsons, Town & Country, and Town Pump, and matching funds by Jackson Contractor Group and Town Pump once again. It really is astounding!  

Let’s not forget the packing of the 1,500 Holiday Bags, the receiving of all the food drives, the distribution of the Holiday Bags, and keeping our food bank running, all the while hitting record numbers of those using our services (an average of 1,945 food boxes a month).

To our volunteers, our donors, our customers and everyone who made this year so special: we are grateful!

Fall Recap

First Security Bank ran a new account signup that benefitted our programs to end hunger. They had an overwhelming response that resulted in a $23,025 donation.

Jackson Contractor Group made another generous $10,000 match donation during Can the Griz to motivate others to give support.

Town Pump Charitable Foundation held their annual roundup and donation match campaign, raising an incredible $82,946 in total.

Murdoch's, Albertson's, and Safeway had checkout roundups at their local stores.

Volunteers supported us at every turn. They were here for Can the Griz food drives and receiving, Thanksgiving distribution, and Huffing for Stuffing, all on top of the support they show for us every day!

Did You Know We Restock?

We distribute an average of 7,258 pounds of food in our store each day. It is important to us that no matter what time our customers shop, they have a variety of groceries to choose from. To do this, we restock our self-choice store continuously with fresh produce, frozen foods, dairy items, and more.
