The #GoHealth Careers Expo was a phenomenal success, with over 2,200 students and teachers registered to attend the event and 56 exhibitors showcasing various health careers. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the Health Gateway schools who participated. Your enthusiasm and support were crucial to the event's success. Feedback from both attendees and exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive, with many noting the students' keen interest in health careers. We are hopeful that with secured funding, this event will become an annual highlight. Next year, we plan to host the expo earlier in Term 2 to accommodate even more schools. 2024 Health Gateway Yearbook 📖
We are now turning our focus to our annual Health Gateway Yearbook. We are calling for schools to please submit your yearbook entries by Friday 30 August 2024. We look forward to showcasing the highlights and achievements of our Health Gateway network schools. You can contribute articles on the following topics: - New Health Gateway School: Celebrate your school's induction into the Health Gateway network. Share your journey, aspirations, and how you plan to leverage this opportunity to benefit your students.
- New Health
Hub: If your school has launched a new health hub or facility, we would love to hear about it. Describe its features, the opportunities it provides for students, and any community impact.
- Graduating Health Certificate Students: Highlight the achievements of your students who are graduating with health certificates. Share their stories, future plans, and any notable accomplishments.
- A Rising Star Health Student: Do you have a student who is excelling in health studies? Feature their story, achievements, and aspirations. This is a great way to recognize and motivate outstanding students.
- Health Gateway or Other Health Industry Experience: Share
any special experiences your students have had within the health industry.
We understand schools are busy, so we are happy to support writing your articles. You can either submit an article that has been previously written for your own school communication or provide our team with a few dot points, and we can create an article from that information. Please also include high-resolution images to accompany your article. For your reference please find below a link to last years Health Gateway Yearbook.
Career expo season in Term 2 saw our team travelling extensively to support our schools. We have met with over 1000 students at your events since the beginning of this year and always value these opportunities to engage with students and share insights into the health sector. We enjoy meeting your students and helping guide their career aspirations.
This year, we have organised a number of industry tours, providing students with firsthand experience of health careers. Buderim Private Hospital Tour: We hosted 50 Year 10 students, who explored the hospital's training facilities, interacted with health professionals, and toured various departments. We have documented this experience in a video, available here. St Vincent's Private Hospital Tour: 20 students from three Health Gateway schools visited St Vincent's Private Hospital, learning about different career opportunities and pathways within the facility.
Upcoming Events - Buderim Private Hospital (Years 11 & 12): Stay tuned for more details.
- Logan Healthy Living: More information to follow.
