Colorectal Cancer Awareness
March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S., but regular screenings can detect it early when treatment is most effective. Screening can prevent up to 60% of colorectal cancer deaths by catching precancerous polyps before they develop into cancer. Schedule an appointment with your provider to discuss your risk and screening options!
College Student and Graduate Opportunities
Are you a 4th-year pre-med, pre-mid-level student, or a 1st-year medical student looking for a meaningful summer experience? The Lawndale Summer Medical Project is a 4-5 week hands-on opportunity where you'll work alongside Christian clinicians, serving a medically underserved community while gaining valuable experience.
We're also accepting applications for our Graduate Internships, offering paid positions with full benefits for college graduates looking to gain healthcare experience or take a gap year. Internship applications close on April 15th, 2025, with interviews conducted in-person or remotely.

Josephine Sebagisha, DO - Family Medicine Resident
Josephine Sebagisha is a driven medical provider at Lawndale Christian Health Center, where she brings a diverse background and deep passion for patient care. Originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, she moved to the U.S. in 2012 and pursued her medical education after discovering her calling through personal experiences and encouragement from family. Her ability to connect with patients from different backgrounds allows her to build trust and provide holistic care that goes beyond medicine. Josephine states, “Just being present for patients—listening, caring, and cheering them on their health journey—is one of the ways I show up for them.” She believes that loving God and loving people is at the core of her work, seeing her role as an extension of her faith. With a compassionate and open-minded approach, Josephine is committed to supporting her patients on their health journeys, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and valued.
Dr. Sebagisha's says, “It’s amazing how patients open up about things they’ve never told anyone, and it’s humbling to be trusted with their stories and care.”

Please start by calling your Care Team. If no same-day appointments are available, they will refer you to the Immediate Care Clinic.
