Why did you choose your charity?

What advice would you give?

Lots of practice questions and past papers!

Ollie Scanlon

Cancer Research

Why did you choose your charity?
I have chosen Cancer Research since I have volunteered there before and have seen first hand the effect it can have on people's lives.

What advice would you give?

My main advice for passing exams would be to make sure to go to tutorials, to give yourself an awareness of the overall course and what areas you will need to focus more on in your revision.

Lauren Branney

Tom McKenzie
CS1

Charity supporting
MacMillan Cancer Support

Why did you choose your charity?
I have a couple of colleagues who were diagnosed with cancer in 2022. They have had a really difficult year and any charity that they might benefit from is a good enough reason for me to choose them!

What advice would you give?

Start studying early and do little bits often. Also, studying when you have work going round your head never works, so make sure you’re in a good place with your work before studying.

Sunil Ghosh
CS2 Winner

Charity supporting
Refuge

Why did you choose your charity?
Refuge provides specialist support to those who experience domestic abuse.

What advice would you give?

In the 20 minutes before the exam, I listen to music to psych myself up and get the adrenaline flowing.

Jordan Silverman
SP6 winner

Charity supporting
Amnesty International

Why did you choose your charity?
I chose to support Amnesty International because I believe in their mission to protect and promote human rights around the world. As a global organisation, they work tirelessly to defend the rights of individuals who are at risk of being oppressed, mistreated, or persecuted. They also work to hold governments accountable for their actions and to ensure that justice is served. I believe that everyone deserves to live in a world where their rights are respected and protected, and I support Amnesty International's efforts to make this a reality.

What advice would you give?

Get your study plan locked in early, and stick to it! For these exams the best thing you can do is practice questions. Get them started as soon as you can, and get through them efficiently.

Cameron Zegeling

Free Kicks Foundation

Why did you choose your charity?
They provide football-related activities for ill, bereaved and disadvantaged children, giving them a day to remember with their favourite football club.

What advice would you give?

Do as much question practice as you can

Devante Suchit
SP8 Winner

Charity supporting
Shelter

Why did you choose your charity?
There are over 100,000 homeless children in the UK alone, many of whom will have to suffer one of the coldest British winters in recent memory.

What advice would you give?

For the SP/SAs it is important to not only generate a breadth of points but to ensure that you are answering the specific question they ask (with great emphasis on the word 'specific'!). A useful exercise is to practise looking at a random exam question and immediately identifying the most relevant framework of responses, with more generic or tangential responses used only as a last resort.

Jack Foley

Why did you choose your charity?

What advice would you give?

Tailor your approach to the exam you are taking and how you study best, there isn’t a one size fits all approach
