AUKUS Statement - UCA

The Uniting Church in Australia (UCA) Assembly expresses its grave concerns with recently announced details of the $368 billion AUKUS security agreement and the plan by Australia to acquire nuclear-powered submarines.

In its 2003 Statement Uniting for Peace, the Uniting Church declared “reliance on weapons for peace and security can never achieve a just and lasting peace”. This is still true 20 years on.

Revive June 2023 Edition

After a brief pause in production while staffing changes have taken place, we are pleased to announce that the next edition of Revive magazine is planned for release in June 2023 with a submission deadline of Monday 17 April.  If you have a story from your congregation or article for consideration of the editor please get in touch with Wendy Hendry by email - revive@wa.uca.org.au

  • Global Peace Prayer hosted by National Council of Churches WA is an online Prayer Service at 12pm AEDT Wednesday 22 March via Zoom, as part of a global movement of prayer for peace. Find out more and how to join here.
  • Concert for CARAD - Enjoy a variety of musical styles and presentations from performers who are volunteering their time to raise much needed funds for Asylum Seekers and Refugees in WA. Sunday 26 March 2023 2.00pm to 5.00pm at Uniting Church in the City, Wesley Perth. 
  • Help Fight Famine - Right now there is a global hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa and East Africa no one is talking about. UnitingWorld is part of the #HelpFightFamine alliance in Canberra this week to call on the Australian Government to help save lives by increasing aid to this emergency.   • Good Sammy donation bins are available until 7 April in the reception of both HBF Arena in Joondalup and HBF Stadium in Mount Claremont in a special donation drive run by VenuesWest. 
  • Methodist Ladies College had a Service of Commissioning for their 13th Principal, Ms Rebecca Clarke on 10 March 2023. Uniting Church WA Moderator, Susy Thomas, attended the service and conducted the Opening Prayer and Commissioning.
  • Kalamunda Uniting Church are holding a Market Day on Saturday 1 April from 9.00am to 12.00pm.

Presbytery Minister (Pastoral) - Presbytery of WA - Expressions of interest are invited from Ministers of the Word/Deacons to fill a vacant placement within the Presbytery of Western Australia. The Presbytery Minister (Pastoral) will ensure the health and vitality of ministers as well as congregations, ministering alongside members of the Pastoral Relations Committee within the Presbytery in their tasks of pastoral oversight.

Minister, Wagin Group of Congregations is a full-time vacant placement comprising three small rural congregations in the Wheatbelt area of Western Australia.  Worship services are conducted in the towns of Wagin (weekly), Darkan (twice monthly) and Dumbleyung (monthly), as well as a short worship service at the local aged care facility (twice monthly).  This single ministry placement is supported by a willing team of lay leaders and lay preachers.

Minister, Geraldton Lighthouse Congregation - Applications are invited for a Full-Time Minister/Pastor to fill a vacant placement at Lighthouse Church Geraldton. Lighthouse congregation is a multi-generational, contemporary, and evangelical congregation of the Uniting Church, located in Geraldton, a large coastal city 420kms north of Perth, Western Australia.
