This August, the important contributions of civil society to policymaking in the areas of arts, culture, heritage and creativity continue to remain in the spotlight, as the international community prepares for key meetings in September 2022 including the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – MONDIACULT 2022 in Mexico, the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Culture in Indonesia and Transforming Education Summit in New York. Effective participatory governance frameworks are increasingly key to facilitating cross-cutting policies, enabling culture to contribute to different policy areas, including sustainable and inclusive growth by increasing trust between public authorities and people and by improving the transparency and accountability.

The Share Your Voice for MONDIACULT 2022 - Global Open Mic process is keen to amplify civil society perspectives, insights, and experiences at MONDIACULT 2022. If you haven’t already submitted your ideas, three days remain to contribute! As part of this civil society consultation process, IFACCA, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Mexico, is organising two virtual gatherings, Share Your Voice for MONDIACULT on 1 September 2022 to dialogue with civil society from across the world to discuss key issues affecting arts, culture and heritage, their importance as public goods and their critical role in the sustainability of our futures and our planet.

Inclusive national consultations are also underway in advance of the September 2022 Transforming Education Summit, a key initiative of Our Common Agenda and a milestone in the Global Education Cooperation Mechanism's roadmap for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education. These consultations recognise that education systems in every country are unique and shaped by the local context.The arts community is also actively involved in the preparations for the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Culture to be hosted by the Government of Indonesia. Several cultural events, including a Cultural Carnival, a G20 orchestra and the International Conference on Indonesian Culture are also being planned and will gather over 2,000 cultural actors, indigenous peoples, and cultural communities. On the agenda of the Ministerial Meeting is building a global consensus for a sustainable new normal and initiating a global recovery agenda through the establishment of a network of joint actions in the cultural sector.

The post-pandemic recovery of the cultural and creative sectors continues to remain high on the international agenda, with the issue expected to be discussed in depth at UNESCO’s MONDIACULT 2022 as well as at the ILO’s technical meeting on the future of work in the arts and entertainment sector in February 2023. In September 2022, IFACCA will release its latest report in the Sustainable Futures series focusing on the working conditions of artists and independent cultural workers.

The gatherings will discuss key issues affecting arts, culture and heritage, their importance as public goods and their critical role in the sustainability of our futures and our planet. This dialogue with civil society will focus on probable solutions to existing challenges and focus on visions for the future as well as pathways to get there. Find out more

Este mes de agosto continúa en el candelero la aportación de la sociedad civil a las políticas públicas en las artes, la cultura, el patrimonio y la creatividad, mientras la comunidad internacional se prepara para varias reuniones de importancia en el mes de septiembre: la Conferencia Mundial de la UNESCO sobre Políticas Culturales y Desarrollo Sostenible – MONDIACULT en México, la reunión de ministras y ministros de Cultura del G20 en Indonesia y la Cumbre de Transformación de la Educación en Nueva York. Los marcos de gobernanza participativos y efectivos son cada vez más importantes para facilitar políticas transversales y permitir así que la cultura pueda contribuir a distintas áreas de las políticas públicas y al crecimiento sostenible e inclusivo, mejorando la confianza entre las autoridades públicas y las personas, la transparencia y la rendición de cuentas.

El proceso Comparte Tu Voz para MONDIACULT 2022: Micrófono abierto global quiere dar voz a las perspectivas, conocimientos y experiencias de la sociedad civil en MONDIACULT 2022. Si todavía no ha comunicado sus ideas, tiene todavía tres días para hacerlo. Como parte de este proceso de consulta a la sociedad civil, IFACCA, en colaboración con la Secretaría de Cultura de México, organizará dos foros virtuales, Comparte tu voz para MONDIACULT el 1 de septiembre de 2022, que reunirán a responsables de políticas públicas y representantes de la sociedad civil de todas las regiones del mundo para dialogar sobre cuestiones clave en las artes, la cultura y el patrimonio, su importancia como bienes públicos y su papel fundamental en la sostenibilidad de nuestros futuros y del planeta.

A nivel nacional, se están realizando consultas previas a la Cumbre de Transformación de la Educación en septiembre de 2022, una iniciativa clave de Nuestra Agenda Común y un hito en la hoja de ruta del Mecanismo de Cooperación en Educación para alcanzar el Objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible número 4, de calidad en la educación. Estas consultas reconocen que los sistemas educativos de cada país son únicos y adecuados al contexto local. La comunidad de las artes también está participando activamente en la preparación de la reunión de ministros y ministras de Cultura del G20 organizada por el Gobierno de Indonesia. Se están planificando diversos eventos culturales, como un Carnaval de cultura, una orquesta G20 y la Conferencia Internacional de Cultura Indonesia, que reunirán a más de 2.000 actores culturales, pueblos indígenas y comunidades culturales. En el orden del día de la reunión ministerial se cuentan la construcción de un consenso global para una nueva normalidad sostenible y el inicio de una agenda de recuperación global mediante el establecimiento de redes de acciones conjuntas en el sector cultural.

La recuperación de los sectores creativos y culturales tras la pandemia continúa en un lugar destacado en la agenda internacional y se prevé tratar este tema a fondo en MONDIACULT 2022 y en la reunión técnica de la Organización Mundial del Trabajo sobre el futuro del empleo en el sector de las artes y el entretenimiento en febrero de 2023. En septiembre de 2022, IFACCA publicará su último informe de la serie Futuros sostenibles, que se centrará en las condiciones laborales de las y los artistas y trabajadores/as culturales independientes.

Se encontró un incremento de 92% de visitas a los espacios culturales en relación con el año 2021.

El Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales (INCAA) presenta la Guía de Mujeres directoras de MERCOSUR Audiovisual, una plataforma online que permite visibilizar la obra y la trayectoria de las realizadoras cinematográficas de Argentina, Brasil, Paraguay y Uruguay, y que por primera vez será accesible en todo el mundo, de manera interactiva y desde cualquier dispositivo. Fue elaborada con l objetivo de revertir la situación de invisibilidad del trabajo de las mujeres en la industria audiovisual, promocionar sus películas y contribuir a reducir las asimetrías de género en el ámbito cinematográfico.

El Gobierno de México, a través del embajador de México en Bélgica, Rogelio Granguillhome, recibió el día de hoy una pieza arqueológica proveniente de las culturas del Occidente de México, dictaminada como patrimonio cultural de la nación por el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH). La restitución es fruto de la colaboración entre la Embajada de México en Bélgica, la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE), la Secretaría de Cultura federal, a través del INAH y las autoridades judiciales belgas.
