Greater possibilities in life - in every possible way!Tēnā koe Along with many others in Āotearoa, Salisbury School has recently taken great pleasure in acknowledging Matariki as a significant time for all New Zealanders. Alongside celebrating and learning about Māori traditions, culture and mātauranga, our Salisbury whānau came together to reflect on the past and look ahead to what the new year may hold. This has indeed been a time of new growth, with many new initiatives taking root in Salisbury soil. The Māori new year brings new programmes and curriculum, new students and staff and new physical spaces to Salisbury - read on below for more about these. Beneath the bustle of new activity, our school values of manaaki (kindness), kaha (courage), mahi tahi (teamwork) and mana whenua (belonging) underpin our mahi and drive us toward an exciting and enriching Term 3. We look forward to sharing the journey forward with you! New Adventure PlaygroundThe new adventure playground was installed and completed earlier this year and has been a huge hit for ākonga. The playground is a vibrant and energising space for lunchtime leisure and letting off steam during the school day. Our Residential Kori Tinana programme also make great use of the equipment for afternoon fitness and strength sessions and inspiring our school value of kaha (courage). New Residential Lead Manager : Tina GuyTina brings a person-centred, positive behaviour support focus to her role, with extensive experience leading teams in high and complex and behaviour support sector areas. "My highlights so far have been getting to know the girls we presently have at Salisbury and having the entire team live the school values as they have welcomed and supported myself and others." "My wellbeing is enhanced by spending time with my mokopuna and being in my garden which provides for us all year round with its bounty." "I tried my best at basketball and I did well. I'm proud of myself." Phoenix is Rising!Established 2006 in Nelson as a pathway promoting opportunity and ability through sport, the Fulton Hogan Basketball League is a Sunday highlight for Salisbury School's "Phoenix" team. With weekly team practices and Sunday games, the Phoenix basketball team fosters mana whenua both on and off the court. The girls' skill development, energy and mahi tahi is a credit to their efforts. Ka pai team Phoenix!
