Welcome back to a brand-new academic year! We hope this message finds you in good health, well rested following the holidays and high spirits, ready to tackle Term 1. The Health Gateway team is looking forward to reconnecting with all schools and extend a warm welcome to both new and continuing Health Gateway schools.

As we dive into 2024, we anticipate another great year ahead, marked by meaningful connections and collaborative efforts within our Health Gateway community. 

Throughout the year, the Health Gateway team are eager to foster closer ties with our industry partners, creating valuable opportunities for students to engage with professionals and gain insights into the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare. Our commitment to inter-school collaboration remains steadfast, providing a platform for sharing best practices and learning from the diverse experiences within our network.

We are pleased to announce an array of exciting events and opportunities planned exclusively for Health Gateway students. From engaging facility tours to inspiring health panels, this year's calendar is designed to enrich the learning experiences of our future health workforce.

We encourage all schools to connect with their Gateway Coordinator at the earliest convenience. Now is the time to lock in dates for Career Expos, student talks, and any additional support required. With over 70 Health Gateway schools already within the network and more expressing interested, you will appreciate that the team's calendars fill up quickly.

The Health Gateway team are pleased to announce the publication and release of the 2023 Health Gateway Yearbook. This marks a significant milestone in capturing the essence of the past academic year for our network. This collaborative effort brings together the collective achievements, memories, and experiences of students and staff from Health Gateway Schools across the network.

We would like to express gratitude to the Health Gateway Schools network for your commitment to contributing exceptional content. This yearbook is a testament to the dedication and hard work of each school, reflecting the diverse and vibrant community within the Health Gateway network.

Every school's contribution adds a layer to the narrative, creating a rich and colourful mosaic that celebrates the multitude of talents and accomplishments throughout the network.

The release of the 2023 Health Gateway Yearbook is a moment to reflect on the networks achievements, growth, and experiences of our community. As we express our gratitude to all the Health Gateway Schools for their invaluable contributions to this yearbook, we also celebrate the unity and diversity that make Health Gateway a thriving and dynamic network. The yearbook is not just a document; it's a living testament to the shared journey of students and educators who continue to shape the future of Queensland’s health workforce.

Each Health Gateway school will receive a copy of the 2023 Health Gateway Yearbook. Please keep an eye out for your copy!

To ensure the continuation of our partnerships, all existing Health Gateway Schools must complete a new Gateway Activity Plan (GAP). This plan serves as a crucial document, consolidating VET health education, career activities/events, and industry connections to enable your Health Gateway Coordinator to effectively support your school. Completing the plan should only require approximately 5 minutes of your time.

Please check your emails as Sabrina Kerr has sent a request to all schools containing a Word and PDF version of the GAP template for your convenience. Your prompt completion and email submission of the plan by COB Friday, February 23, 2024, would be greatly appreciated. Should you have any questions regarding this process, or you have not received Sabrina's email please reach out to your respective Health Gateway Coordinator (contact details provided at the bottom of this email).

The Health Gateway team is dedicated to fostering collaboration and growth the Health Gateway network and offers a wealth of opportunities and resources for its community. However, to take full advantage of these benefits, it is essential for our Health Gateway community to establish a strong connection with their Health Gateway Coordinator.

Health Gateway Coordinators are available to attend and support your career expos. By reaching out to your coordinator early you can lock in their or a member of the teams attendance.

Engaging with students is vital for piquing interest and passion within the health sector. Health Gateway Coordinators can facilitate student talks and also connect professionals with schools to share insights, experiences, and valuable advice.

Linking with Other Health Gateway Schools:

Collaboration is at the heart of the Health Gateway network. Health Gateway Coordinators can assist members in connecting with other schools within the network, fostering a sense of community and enabling the sharing of best practices.

Nominations are open for the 2024 Queensland Training Awards – celebrating excellence in training and the transformative power of skills.

The prestigious Queensland Training Awards have been shining a spotlight on excellence in training and the transformative power of skills since 1962.

Across a range of categories, the annual awards recognise individuals and organisations that strive for and have achieved success, best practice and innovation in vocational education and training (VET).

The awards showcase all that's great about VET in Queensland, with categories for apprentices, trainees, vocational students, teachers and trainers, as well as training providers and employers.
