Gateway-2-Health is a program newsletter providing updates and information on the Health Gateway to Industry Schools program being delivered by CheckUP. Our team works closely with Queensland schools and health industry employers to promote career pathways and support students' understanding of the varied and in-demand roles in the health sector. We will also help to facilitate learning and experiential opportunities for both students and
teachers.

As the end of the year quickly approaches we reflect on 2021 and are incredibly proud of what we have achieved. The team not only engaged with Health Gateway schools through virtual and in person meetings but they also attended many school and industry events, distributing thousands of promotional products, and speaking with countless eager students. All of this could not have been achieved without the support of our Gateway Schools and Industry Partners. We would like to thank each and every one of you for your ongoing support. We are also pleased to announce that CheckUP has been awarded a
three-year extension of the Health Gateway to Industry Schools program, taking funding though to January 2025. We look forward to continuing to work with our Gateway schools across Queensland over the next three years. Please click on the link below to view a short video of some of our achievements this year.
Welcome to our new Health Gateway schools
Although the year has been busy and we all continue to face challenges during the pandemic we are so happy that the interest in the Gateway to Health program continues to grow. We are pleased to welcome eight new schools. - Carmel College, Thornlands
- Ipswich State High
School
- Loganlea State High School
- St Augustine's College, Augustine Heights
- Kirwan State High School, Townsville
- Ryan Catholic College,
Townsville
- Lourdes Hill College, Hawthorne
- Marsden State High School
We look forward to working with our Gateway Schools in the new year and supporting their students as they navigate their health career pathways.
As you will be aware we have had some movement within the team and with the departure of Mary-Anne and Sam we took this opportunity to restructure the team. You may know that CheckUP provides healthcare services to communities throughout Queensland and to assist with this delivery of these services we have Regional Coordinators responsible for specific regions. To piggyback on this already established network, our Regional Coordinators will now also be responsible for engaging with schools and Industry Partners in their regions. In addition to the Regional Coordinators, Sabrina Kerr and Kat Murray will be responsible for schools in South-East Queensland.

We are looking forward to launching our latest resource, Healthcare is Everywhere! This resource is an interactive online tool developed to illustrate the range of employment opportunities within both rural and metro settings. Complementary resources will be developed to aid teachers and enhance student experiences. Healthcare is Everywhere will be launched in Term 1, 2022.
We held the inaugural Health Gateway to Industry Schools Forum on Friday 8 October 2021. A big thank you to Hon. Di Farmer, the Minister for Employment and Small Business, Minister for Training and Skills Development for her opening speech and launch of the Health Gateway to Industry Schools program. We would also like to thank the indigenous dance troupe from St James College for performing a great Welcome to Country to start the day. A special thank you to all of our presenters from the day. Finally, thank you to Gary from Armchair Medical for recording the day.
