Welcome to The Northeastern Center of Community Service Volunteer Weekly Digest. Here you'll find current volunteer opportunities shared by local nonprofits, schools and government agencies across Greater Boston!

Alternative Spring Break 2020 - 24 hours remain to apply for the regular deadline! ASB provides students the opportunity to join week-long immersive service and learning experience. Through meaningful action, reflection, and education, volunteers engage in direct service and explore a critical social issue in their host community or region. This year the Center of Community Service will host 12 ASB trips across the United States and Latin America. Trips will focus on  affordable housing, environmental conservation, youth education, animal care, sustainable food, and more. Click here to learn more and apply today!

Alternative Weekends provide students the opportunity to connect with social issues and community organizations across the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions. Over Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, this Alternative Weekend trip will travel to New York City. In partnership with Hosteling Internationals “Great Hostel Give Back Program” participants will receive free nights in the NYC Hostel for volunteering with local organizations during the stay. Throughout the weekend, volunteers will have the opportunity to volunteer with local non-profit organizations, explore different cultural institutions, and join a city-wide MLK volunteer event! Hyde Square Task Force (HSTF) could not mentor and tutor youth without the help of their amazing volunteers. With the New Year approaching they're looking to expand their volunteer network. Click here to learn more!

Silver Lining Mentoring empowers youth in foster care to flourish through committed mentoring relationships and the development of essential life skills. They are currently looking for mentors and have a variety of other opportunities available! To learn more, click here.

MLCS is currently seeking homework help/tutor volunteers to work a few hours each week with our younger kids (ages 7-12), preferably individuals who have experience working with young urban youth. Click here to learn more!

Just-A-Start Tax Help Clinic is looking for volunteers to help prepare taxes for low- to moderate-income taxpayers, with a special focus on maximizing the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), one of the country's largest anti-poverty programs. To learn more, click here!

On-going volunteer opportunities happen daily, weekly, or monthly. Volunteers can (typically) decide if they would like to volunteer one-time or long-term.

I.M.S.O. Food Pantry needs your help with preparing, packing and distributing food bags for the food pantry program. Whatever time or support you can provide is appreciated. To learn more, click here!

Sitters Without Borders, inc. ("SWOB") provides free evening babysitting sessions to low-income parents enrolled in an evening college or certificate program, and is currently looking for volunteers! Click here to learn more.

The Boston Children’s Hospital Blood Donor Center is an independent collection facility serving the needs of the pediatric patients in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area. They are always in need of Blood and Platelet Donations. There is no substitute for these blood products which are used every day in the treatment of pediatric cancer, sickle cell disease and other illnesses.To learn more, click here!

Fenway Community Development Corporation has partnered with Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral to bring the Fair Foods “$2 per Bag” program to the Fenway neighborhood. Fenway CDC is recruiting volunteers that will help set up and clean before and after Fair Foods, help organize an assembly line for packaging produce and food, and creating recipes that are culturally sensitive. Fair Foods happens every other Wednesday; click here to learn more!
