Loyola University Chicago announced a partnership with Constellation to purchase solar power from what will be the largest solar farm in Illinois. The move is part of the university's Climate Action Plan towards carbon neutrality by 2025.
The University's carbon neutrality plan emphasizes decarbonization through a number of measures, including purchasing carbon offsets, exploring the feasibility of geothermal energy technology, reducing waste across campus, and supporting research.
Hamilton College has an ambitious plan to jumpstart its goal of reaching carbon neutrality by infusing a culture of environmental responsibility into every aspect of campus life. These plans are outlined in the College's Sustainability Commitments.
Carleton College Food Waste Recovery Project: Open for Comments
Students at Carleton College have been working with a partner nonprofit to recover and redistribute discarded food, thereby diverting 300,000 pounds of food from the landfill annually. This work has prompted the student-led development of a methane avoidance project through Second Nature's Offset Network. Once approved, the project will allow Carleton College to offset a portion of scope 3 emissions. To learn more about the project or to leave a comment on the project description document via the Offset Network read the draft.
