Enrolling in YSE courses | To register for a YSE course, enter the course on your registration worksheet for zero credit, then during the Add/Drop period complete a Request to Enroll in a Professional School Course (Blue Form) to receive permission of the instructor and professional school. If approved, the Yale College Registrar’s Office will award appropriate course credit. Note: Additional YSE courses will be added up until YSE registration starts on January 6th. Reminders to the Class of 2024.5 and 2025: Submit your senior profile for the #EVSTseniorspotlight series here and concentration courses here. Renewable Energy Project Finance (ENV 635) is open to undergraduates. Due to the class being a SOM/YSE class, students will need to sign up via the following form by the end of November and not through normal course registration. Registering through course selection does NOT guarantee a spot in the class, and the class is usually set before Add/Drop re-opens in January. The course is intended to be a practicum, exposing students to real-world tools of the trade as well as the theory underlying them. In place of a textbook, students will read approximately 400 pages of legal contracts and engineering reports from a U.S. renewable energy project. Through weekly homework assignments, students develop the skills necessary to construct a detailed financial model, largely comparable to what would be used by an investment firm, project developer, or independent power producer. Modeling skills include sizing debt capacity, sensitivity analysis, stochastic forecasting, taxes, and 3-way financial statements. Lectures introduce energy market dynamics, financial structuring, equipment engineering, risk management, and alternative contractual frameworks. Contact Sean Sugiono with questions about the application process. Upcoming EventsOpportunities The CC Lab is looking for student research assistants for the spring semester. The CC Lab is a climate non-profit based in New Haven. They spun out the Yale School of the Environment earlier this year but continue to have many ties to Yale. Their mission is to develop and support emergent climate solutions by applying scientific, entrepreneurial, and investment expertise. Apply by November 30. Details and application here.
