    THE WORLD IS OUR OYSTER

They say that eating a fresh oyster is like a quick dip in the ocean, you’re left feeling refreshed, exhilarated and with a lightly salty taste on your lips. The cold, nutrient rich waters along the Garden Route and South West coastline of Africa are well known for growing some of the highest quality oysters in the world. And the best of the best, enthusiastically endorsed by locals and tourists alike, is Oysters R Us, a small restaurant off the beaten track in Wilderness where the hosts really know their stuff. Quickly becoming one of our favourite stops on our ‘World in One Country’ tour, here guests can enjoy a great location, great music and spectacular oysters (with a variety of different toppings to choose from), good wines, craft gin, biscuits and cheeses for those that don't eat oysters. Great for everyone and an experience to remember.

8 MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT TRAVEL IN AFRICA

By now most people (hopefully) know that Africa is not a country, but a continent with over 50 independent countries. But some misconceptions still prevail, for instance some tourists honestly are surprised that wild animals are found in fenced game reserves and not wandering the streets of major cities like Nairobi. When guests arrive they are not only astounded by the beauty and diversity but also realize that some of their preconceived ideas were not entirely accurate, This is all part of the travelling experience, but to prepare visitors we have compiled a list of some of the biggest and most common misconceptions.

CELEBRATING THE WOMEN OF JENMAN AFRICAN SAFARIS

August is Women's month in South Africa and on 9 August we celebrate Women's Day, to commemorate the 1956 march of approximately 20 000 women to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to petition against the country's discriminatory pass laws. It's a period to celebrate the strength, unity, and leadership of women. Our CEO Katja Quasdorf is a woman who worked her way up to her position as a junior German intern to an experienced young woman now running the company. Jenman African Safaris is incredibly proud of its diverse staff and multicultural office environment, and to celebrate Women's month we would like to introduce you to some of the Jenman women who come from various corners of Africa and now live and work in Cape Town for a company that is proudly dedicated to social responsibility.
