As I'm sure some of you have noticed, I haven't really been present at any of the events so far this season. I have majorly screwed up my back, and the pain is nothing like I've ever felt. Over the last month, I've been to the doctor 4 times and the ER for a myriad of tests...to determine that yes, I did in fact totally booger my back up. Doesn't the universe know that I have a new set of Nankangs to buy for Monty? Stupid medical bills and deductibles....but I digress. Hopefully with some PT and steroid injections, I'll be able to get back in the car and "drive in anger" as they say. At this point, I'll settle for being able to be out on site for an entire event without wanting to cry! Jake put this placeholder below in case I forgot my part, and I figured I'd leave it in for fun... If you’re reading this, it means Melissa didn't put her Note from the R.E., hopefully she's feeling better after getting brutalized by Josie, her adorable puppers. Keep it Classy Susquehanna 2023 Season Schedules! Please note that these dates could change throughout the season. RallyCross may use one of the dates as a rain date as well depending on the weather. Middle Atlantic Road Racing Series #1
A number of Susquehanna Region members competed in the MARRS race at Summit Point, WV, April 21-23, 2023. They were in multiple classes spread out over 8 race groups; and, there were 2 races for each group. There were about 208 drivers in total. The officials noted that this was the best attended MARRS race since Labor Day, 2013. The conditions were rough. There was fog, rain and mist all day Saturday. Sunday was less wet, but colder. Nine drivers from Susquehanna Region took part. Jared Odrick drove his Mazda Miata (#27) in 2 classes. He finished 18th and 13th in Spec Miata and 4th and 3rd in SuperTouring Lite. Chuck Buczeski drove a Datsun 240Z (#0) to 5th and 6th in the Improved Touring S class. 2 drivers entered an enormous Spec Miata field. James Roberts (#6) finished 26th and 28th. Gary Shenk (#25) came in 31st and 22nd. Cord Kisthardt, Corvette (#21) , won both of the Touring 1 races. Super Touring Under ace Alan Lesher (#07), that's me, finished #1 & #2 in class. He also took a trip down the escape road on the last lap. Something blew, the parts flew & I was through. Don't ask, it's going to be expensive. H Production driver Paul Behofist (#86) DNF'd but came back to place 5th on Sunday. Formula V had 2 region drivers entered. Ryan Higgens (#13) had a DNF and a DNS Kevin Higgens (#113)Cweekend went better with two 2nd place finishes. Car number in parentheses. DNF= did not finish. DNS= did not start. There are hundreds of photos of the race meeting on the RP Performance Facebook site. Errors and omissions a purely fictional and par for the course. News from SCCA Detroit Region Capitalizes on Change With Tarmac RallyCrossMAY 8, 2023 — Sports Car Club of America® members know RallyCross® – it’s autocross on grass and mud, right? That’s a fair definition – but RallyCross can be so much more. Take Detroit Region, for example, which began hosting “Tarmac RallyCross” this year at Milan Dragway. The Region previously hosted mixed surface events, running from pavement to off-road and back again, but an ownership change nixed those plans over concerns of grass repair – and thus Detroit Region’s Tarmac RallyCross was born. Yes, the social promo is a familiar one, but rest assured, this year’s Tire Rack SCCA® Solo® National Championships will be like no other. While this year’s Solo Nats – taking place Sept. 5-8 at Lincoln Airpark in Nebraska – is still months away, there’s vital information available right now that will be infinitely helpful to those planning to attend this year’s epic weeklong 50th Solo Nats Homecoming party. KONI and Track Night: A Partnership Made for the TrackAPR 3, 2023 — There are few companies that are synonymous with the Sports Car Club of America, but KONI Shock Absorbers is one of them. From road racing to autocross and beyond, KONI has been an ever-present force, allowing drivers to affordably control their vehicles at speed with top-quality suspension products. That commitment to the Club and its members continues to this very day, with KONI’s involvement with the SCCA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack program. Track Night in America is one of SCCA’s most unique products, offering racetrack access to anyone with a vehicle, a helmet, about $170, and a spare afternoon. Then come this June, KONI’s assistance will help make that deal even sweeter. Track Night partners believe everyone should benefit from these kinds of deals, and while the exact dollar amount of KONI’s June Track Night discount has yet to be announced, rest assured that it’ll sweeten the pot. ——— Sponsors ———2023 2023 Event ScheduleAutocross Dates: April 29 - Events 1 & 2 May 13 - Events 3 & 4 June 17 - Events 5 & 6 August 12 - Events 7 & 8 September 16 - Events 9 & 10 November 4-5 - Events 11, 12, 13 and the Match Tour Rallycross Dates:
