A shepherd of grace and compassionUniting Church President Rev Charissa Suli extends the deepest condolences of the Uniting Church in Australia to the Catholic Church upon the passing of Pope Francis, and pays tribute to the spiritual leader. "On behalf of the Uniting Church in Australia, I extend my deepest condolences to our Catholic sisters and brothers, and all who grieve this profound loss. We join with people of faith around the world in giving thanks for his extraordinary witness, moral courage and lifelong commitment to the Gospel."
Media Release 24 April 2025The Uniting Church in Australia strongly opposes Opposition Leader Peter Dutton's election commitment that under a Coalition government, the visas of Palestinians from Gaza would be re-assessed. "Australia has a moral, spiritual and humanitarian responsibility to those fleeing war and violence. We must not close the door on those in need or unjustly target an already traumatised community. Our visa processes are extensive and rigorous. What is needed now is not suspicion, but solidarity."

How your kindness showed up in a pool in the PilbaraWhen you run the swimming pool in a remote town, you get to know the local kids well. That was Kristy Brown’s role for three years in Marble Bar, a remote town in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The town sits alongside the First Nations community of Binya, and Kristy regularly sees many children from Binya at the pool. Read about the Marble Bar Youth Project, started by Frontier Services Bush Chaplain Rev David Jackson and Kristy Brown, creating a safe space in Marble Bar for young people to
come together for learning, connection, and community.
