Breast cancer affects both women and men, with about 1 in 8 women and 1 in 833 men diagnosed in their lifetime. Early detection can save lives. We encourage patients over the age of 40 to talk with their care team about getting regular screenings. If you’re due for a mammogram or have concerns, schedule an appointment today—and encourage your loved ones to do the same.

Kortnee Roberson Cooper, MD
Dr. Kortnee Roberson Cooper is a family medicine physician passionate about meeting patients where they are and providing individualized care. Her journey to medicine began with a love of science and helping others, which ultimately led her from pharmaceutical research to medical school at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago.
Before joining Lawndale Christian Health Center, Dr. Roberson Cooper gained meaningful experience serving patients in homeless shelters—a role that taught her the value of flexibility, empathy, and trust. She states, “I want every patient I see to feel respected, no matter their background or circumstance."
At LCHC, she continues this mission by offering high-quality care rooted in respect, honesty, and the love of Christ. Dr. Cooper believes that the most rewarding part of her work is earning her patients’ trust and knowing her care makes a lasting impact on their lives.
Dr. Cooper says, "I see my role not just as a doctor, but as someone who helps guide and empower patients to take charge of their health.”

SNAP Benefits Cut Off Nov. 1
Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, funding for SNAP benefits is set to be cut off starting November 1. Unless the government reopens soon or Congress acts to fix the problem, SNAP customers would not receive their November benefits. The situation is still evolving. Please visit the IDHS website for updates.
