Match Tour Cash Prizes

By Jared McGahen

Hello everyone! As we’ve eclipsed the halfway point to our autocross season, it’s time we talk about our yearly finale: the Susquehanna Match Tour. A traditional since 2019. Last year we offered cash prizes to our bracket winners. I’m happy to report that we will again be offering prize money, except bigger.

How the match tour works: you have your 4 runs in the morning session like normal. Then we take everyone’s PAX times and create four brackets: 1-24 being the Top Dog, 25-65 Under Dog, 66-106 Lucky Dog, 107-150 Street Dog.  So top 24, the next 40, the next 40, then the remainder. And prize money is as follows:

Top dog (24-12-6-3)
1st $500
2nd $200
3rd $100

Under Dog and Lucky Dog (40-20-10-5-3)
1st $200
2nd $100
3rd $50

Street Dog (xx-20-10-5-3)
1st $100
2nd $50
3rd $25

If you’ve got questions please ask. We are happy to help and hope to see a good turnout!

Reminder: Event Photos Available!

Many of us remember that one run where everything just flowed, or maybe that one cone we just couldn't keep from tagging. They say a picture's worth a thousand words, so why not get a photo from our events to show off to friends and family? With easy downloads and paper prints right at your fingertips, Ben Burkhart Photography has you covered. Regale your loved ones with the excitement of racing (and maybe convince them to come join the fun) with photos from Autocross, Rallycross, Hill Climb, Car Shows, and sometimes even someone being goofy in paddock. Hit the button below and check out Ben's work, as he continues to be not only a great photographer at our events, but also a continuing region sponsor.

RallyCrossers Weather the Storm at the SCCA MIDiv RallyCross Divisional Challenge

JUL 21 2026 — Rain doesn’t sound like it would be a dealbreaker for an SCCA® RallyCross®, but excessive rain – like that at the July 3-5, 2026, SCCA MIDiv RallyCross Divisional Challenge at Billy Bob’s Billings RallyX Farm in Oklahoma – added a real challenge. Add in ridiculous levels of wind, and you suddenly have an event that easily could have been cancelled. But this is RallyCross, and RallyCrossers don’t know how to quit.

Three inches of rain fell the week before the event and the site did not dry until Thursday, even with the help of 90 degree F heat and 20 mph winds. Still, 23 competitors showed up for a weekend of competition that began with the Friday night social. The party cases of adult beverages, soda, cheeseburgers, and chips were sponsored by Frank's Funeral Home, allowing RallyCrossers to walk the course with a drink in one hand and a burger in the other. A final course walk on Saturday morning allowed everyone to wrap their heads around one of the shortest courses on the calendar, projecting times under two minutes.

Hagerty’s Anti-Guide to Project Cars

JUL 09, 2026 — Every project car you pick up, you did so with the best of intentions. The car will be awesome as soon as you fix those suspension clunks, find the right replacement engine, and then upgrade all of the other components to handle that additional power. The build might take you a year (or two…or three…), but the car will be awesome once it’s done.

The problem is, over the course of that year (or two), it’s easy to lose inspiration. Thus, enter Hagerty’s “Your Project Car Anti-Guide, written by Kyle Smith.

Isn’t Hagerty a car insurance company? Yes! Yet Hagerty is also a media company, with tons of useful and entertaining articles appearing on hagerty.com/media.

In this recent article, Smith tackles three tips that are often presented as advice to someone beginning a new project. The problem, he says, is that advice is not always ideal.

Brake Later and Carry More Speed with These SCCA Member Benefits Discounts

JUL 07, 2026— Every SCCA® participant knows the fastest drivers aren't always the ones with the most horsepower. Winning time is found in the braking zone and in the turns. It's the confidence to brake later, carry more speed through the apex, and put the power down sooner that separates a good lap from a great one.

Whether you're attacking cones at an autocross, chasing tenths during a Time Attack, battling wheel-to-wheel in SCCA Road Racing, or refining your skills at a Track Day, vehicle control is everything – and that vehicle control starts where rubber meets the road, with the systems responsible for stopping, turning, and keeping your car planted.

All of this is why SCCA makes sure Club members have access to discounts from some of the most respected names in the braking and suspension industries. These companies help drivers maximize confidence, consistency, and performance, giving you the tools to find speed where it counts most.

The Easiest Win at the SCCA Runoffs Starts Before the Green Flag with These Free Contingency Programs

JUL 06, 2026 — Registration for the 2026 SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® is on many people’s minds (in case you missed the news, driver and volunteer registration opens July 7), but while signing up for the Sept. 28-Oct. 4, 2026, winner-take-all event at Road America is key to success, so is registering for the event’s contingency programs. In fact, there’s no reason not to sign up for the contingency programs – the process only takes a few clicks, it’s completely FREE (!) to do, and you don’t even have to land on the podium during the National Championship event in order to score big.

Contingency programs are offered by manufacturers and industry partners as a way to reward racers for their participation and performance. In most cases, competitors simply need to register for the program and display the sponsor’s decals on their race car. Eligible finishers can then earn awards that may include cash payouts, certificates, discounts, or products. Depending on the program, competitors can earn valuable prizes without even standing on the podium.

Andy '2' Riggs offered a letter to the editor. We didn't read it, but we can imagine it went something like "Gosh I sure do love the Squeal! It's my favorite email newsletter." Thanks, Andy.
