Request for Farm Visit for APCEP Students
Families from All Saint's Floreat and Trinity North Uniting Churches are currently hosting two young men from the the Papuan provinces of Indonesia who have commenced a 12 week visit for the Australian Papuan Cultural Exchange Program (APCEP). During their time here they will study English in the city at Milner International College of English which has very generously donated scholarships for their tuition. When they are not at college they endeavour to see and experience as much of Australian culture as organisers can manage.
As both young men are from the central mountains of Papua, they are accustomed to the small subsistence farms of that area. Organisers would love to show them what farming is like in Australia and are asking if there is anyone in our Uniting Church WA community who would be willing and able to hosts the students and their hosts/drivers to a "day on a farm" before they return home? They have never seen a sheep or a harvester or a rural scale rainwater tank or the many things that are everyday sights on WA farms. The visit would need to be before 3 May, and they are hoping to arrange a church talk and farm visit on a Sunday, or a visit on a Friday or Saturday when they don't attend college. If your farm is within a reasonable drive from the city and you would like to host a visit please contact Lee-Anne Burnett on 0414 153 323.
