Moderator Reaffirms Church's Commitment to Core ValuesThe Uniting Church in Western Australia reaffirms our calling in Christ to be a community marked by love, justice, and deep respect for all people. In a message to the church and community, our Moderator Rev David Jackson reminds us that in a time when public discourse is increasingly shaped by fear and division, we are called to bear witness to the Gospel’s vision of compassion, truth, and reconciliation. Growth in the Midst of ChangeThe 21st Annual Meeting of the Presbytery of WA took place on Saturday 20 June 2026 with the theme ‘Growth in the Midst of Change’. The meeting began with a joyous opening worship led by Presbytery Chairperson Rev Ken Devereux, alongside Rev Samuel Annan and the worship team from Rockingham Uniting Church. During the opening worship there was a Service of Induction for Rev Ana Lea'aetoa into her role as Presbytery Minister (Pastoral). Pilbara Patrol Remote Area Bush ChaplaincyExpressions of interest are invited from Ministers of the Word, Deacons, Pastors or people willing to Pastors, to fill this vacant placement within the Synod of Western Australia. The Pilbara Patrol Bush Chaplaincy is an outreach of the Uniting Church in the north of Western Australia, funded by Frontier Services. The aim of the role is to offer emotional, physical and spiritual care and support to people living in this remote area. Go to our vacancy listing for further information about the role and how to submit an expression of interest by 17 July 2026. For insight into the work of the Pilbara Patrol Bush Chaplain you can read our September 2024 article by Rev David Jackson (during the time when he was serving in this role) - Stories from the Pilbara Patrol English Conversation Partners for Papuan TeachersThe Black Pearl Network is beginning a new initiative which requires English speakers to partner with Papuan English teachers to help them maintain their English skills. The teachers (pictured at their annual conference with BPN volunteers) are stationed all over the six Papuan Provinces running the Black Pearl English Course (BPEC) classes. Some live in very remote, isolated villages and most have no English speaking community with whom they can practise their English and maintain their skills. The BPN is hoping to recruit a partner for each teacher or duo of teachers to spend a short while each week speaking English with them via WhatsApp voice calls to help them to maintain their English fluency. Connecting with WhatsApp is very simple and relies only on an internet connection and is found to be the most reliable way to chat with our Papuan friends. This is a great opportunity for those who wish to actively help but may be restricted to activities close to home. In the past some great friendships have grown from partnerships like this. If you would like to know more please contact Lee-Anne Burnett, Chair of the International Partnerships and Development Commission (IPDC) - dunlee4@gmail.com Read more about the work of the BPN in our Revive story 'Giving a hand up in the land of Papua'
