Greetings from our new Director

Dear readers,

I’m very pleased to introduce myself. I am Martín Benavides, and I am the new Director of the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning.

Previously, I served as Peru's Minister of Education, Superintendent of Higher Education, and Director of the think tank Group for the Analysis of Development (GRADE) in Peru. I am now honored to be leading IIEP and to put my experiences at the service of education systems worldwide.

As we celebrate IIEP’s 60th anniversary this year, I am sure we will have many opportunities to reflect together on the future – and the power – of educational planning and its important role in addressing the challenges of the post-COVID-19 era.

Warm regards and enjoy the rest of the newsletter!

Martín Benavides, IIEP Director
