JOTTINGS OF
A PERSONAL JEWELLERJULY 2025 NEWSLETTER
Hello! Another month full of exciting happenings since I last wrote. A visit to Hamilton in the Western District—where I have been many times before and where I enjoyed the hospitality of some lovely friends and clients—was where I launched my latest talk The Brooch is Back. It seems to have gone down a treat!
As I write this newsletter I am in Hobart, Tasmania, where I was asked to give a talk with the Royal Society and then another talk at Government House. Both were in conjunction with Susannah Fullerton OAM who is a joy to work with and who, later in the year is publishing her latest book "Great Writers and the Cats who owned them”. To coincide with this I will be creating a new talk “Cats, cats, and more cats….the World of
Feline Jewels” so watch out for its launch with Susannah sometime in late October.
I've spoken to both Trevor Chappell of ABC Radio National and Joel Rheinberger of ABC Radio Hobart recently so if you haven't already, you can catch up on these interviews below.
Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis — The Jewels Of Camelot Talk
Of all the famous women of the 20th century, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis, is the most mysterious and compelling. I'll be giving my Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis—The Jewels Of Camelot Talk this month on Wednesday 23rd July at the RACV City Club Melbourne so do come along for what is bound to be a wonderful morning.
I came across a beautiful large South Sea Pearl (16.2mm x 20.3mm) and thought it looks perfect as the centrepiece of this matt black Onyx necklace. Take a closer look over on my website.
I mentioned last month how I am being given all sorts of pieces to sell. This lovely late Victorian open scroll design circular all Diamond set brooch/pendant is another such piece. Beautifully made and cleverly black oxidised over its silver settings, it would look beautiful on any outfit or
even on a silk ribbon of any colour around the neckline. Head to my website to see the piece in detail.
