For sporting organisations please look at the Play Our Way Program. It supports local community, not-for-profit and sporting organisations to deliver initiatives to make sport more welcoming and equitable for women and girls. Particularly Facilities – for projects that establish and improve sporting facilities that are designed for women and girls and further encourage them to take part in sport and physical activity by better meeting their needs.

FEDERAL GRANTS

 

Business Research & Innovation Initiative (BRII)

Amount: $25,000 - $2.5 million
Closing Date: 30 April 2024
Purpose: The CEUF is a targeted, competitive grant program that provides co-funding for energy upgrades at existing local government facilities. The program aims to help local governments to:

  • Make their facilities more energy efficient
  • Lower their greenhouse emissions and energy bills.

Community Energy Upgrades Fund Program

Amount: $25,000 - $2.5 million
Closing Date: 30 April 2024

Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program

Amount: $100,000 - $3 million
Closing Date: 5 March 2024
Purpose: To solve industry identified problems that align with the Government’s priorities, including our commitment to build a Future Made in Australia.  Successful projects from previous rounds have spanned a range of issues from tackling plastic waste and cyber security to lowering emissions from agriculture and taking new Australian battery technologies to market.

Energy Efficiency Grants (EEG) for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

Amount: $10,000 - $25,000
Closing Date: 8 April 2024
Purpose: To assist small and medium enterprises to upgrade to more efficient equipment. This includes replacing air conditioners with high efficiency units or gas heating boilers with heat pumps, helping SMEs lower power bills and emissions.

Highways and Byways Small Grants Program 

Amount: $4,000
Closing Date: 15 March 2024
Purpose: For projects that support people and communities in addressing social and ecological disadvantage and inequality, particularly in rural, regional and remote Australia.

Improving Health Outcomes for Priority Populations of Women and Girls – Health Promotion Activities

Amount: $4,000
Closing Date: 16 March 2024
Purpose: To support innovative approaches to trialling new initiatives, or expanding existing health promotion activities that focus on improving health literacy, reducing risk, and improving health outcomes within priority population groups

National Justice Reinvestment Program Round 2

Amount: Undisclosed
Closing Date: 9 May 2024
Purpose: To reduce contact with the criminal justice system and incarceration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults and young people through support for place-based and community-led justice reinvestment initiatives across Australia.

National Awards for Local Government 2024

Amount: Undisclosed

Purpose: Entries are now open for the 2024 National Awards for Local Government, which recognise outstanding innovation implemented by councils that have enhanced local communities.

On Farm Connectivity Program

Amount: $3,000 - $30,000
Closing Date: 30 June 2024
Purpose: To enable primary producers in agriculture, forestry and/or fisheries to claim a rebate of between $3,000 and $30,000 for the sale of eligible equipment, with primary producers accessing discounted prices. The rebate can be claimed for up to 50 per cent of the cost of the eligible equipment.

Play Our Way Program

Amount: $50,000 -$1.5 million
Closing Date: 1 July 2024
Purpose: 
To support local governments, community, not-for-profit and sporting organisations deliver initiatives to make sport more welcoming and equitable for women and girls. Grants will be available in two streams:

  • Facilities – for projects that establish and improve sporting facilities that are designed for women and girls and further encourage them to take part in sport and physical activity by better meeting their needs
     
  • Participation and equipment – for programs that encourage women and girls to participate and remain involved in sport and physical activity for life, by tackling barriers such as disadvantage or lack of equipment, and for programs that will lead to sustained cultural change in sport.

School Student Broadband Initiative

Amount: Access 12 months free broadband
Closing Date: 31 December 2024
Purpose: To provide up to 30,000 families with no internet at home free NBN for 12 months. To be eligible, a family must:

  • Have a child living at home that is enrolled in an Australian school.
  • Have no active broadband service over the NBN network.

Strengthening Social Cohesion Grants

Amount: $12.25 million 
Closing Date: Undisclosed
Purpose: To support Australian Palestinian, Muslim and other communities affected by the Hamas-Israel conflict. The first round of funding will provide $12.25 million for affected Palestinian, Muslim and other communities, including:  ​

  • $7 million for national programs addressing social cohesion impacts felt across communities in Australia;
  • $1.25 million to expand and enhance existing social cohesion projects; and
  • $4 million for community-led grass roots programs.

Sponsorship Grants for Student Science Engagement & International Competitions 2024

Amount: $1,500 - $15,000, with a maximum amount per student of $2,000 for domestic events and $5,000 for events requiring international travel. 
Closing Date: 4 April 2024
Purpose: Schools and community groups can apply for grant funding to sponsor a student or group of students to participate in in-person and virtual STEM engagement events.

Churchill Fellowship

Purpose: Calling all artists and cultural workers: You’re invited you to apply for a Churchill Fellowship to travel overseas for four to eight weeks to explore a topic or issue that you’re passionate about and share the knowledge you gain when you return.

Energy Consumer Australia

Amount:  $15,000

Purpose: To enable residential or small business consumer advocacy by participation in current or forthcoming government, regulatory, or industry decision-making processes, or for small, targeted research projects.

Live Performance Venue Grant

Amount: $20,000 to $80,000

Purpose: Aims to increase the number of fit-for-purpose live performance venues across Greater Sydney, Newcastle-Lower Hunter, Central Coast and Illawarra-Shoalhaven.

NSW Justice Reinvestment Grant Program

Amount: from $100,000
Closing Date: 18 March 2024
Purpose: To provide funding for community-led programs that focus on reinvesting in Aboriginal communities to reduce contact with the criminal justice system.

Tertiary Health Study Subsidies

Amount: $12,000 
Closing Date: Applications will close when all subsidies are awarded
Purpose: Are you a student enrolled in a health care degree? You can now apply for up to $12,000 in subsidies to support you in your studies!

This initiative will create a future pipeline of health workers with up to 850 nursing students, 400 medical students and 150 midwifery students expected to enter the subsidy program each year.

Purpose: To support the community to deliver activities which require a small amount of funding and/or assistance with Council Services. This is a small grant program, open all year round and assessed monthly,

Community Environment Grants

Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: 25 March 2024
Purpose: To support community-initiated projects that improve our local environment and/or inspire environmentally sustainable behaviour in Lake Macquarie City. Incorporated, not-for-profit community organisations are eligible to apply, including school Parent and Citizen groups, community-based pre-schools, service clubs, bush regeneration/conservation groups and Sustainable Neighbourhood Groups.

Lead Mitigation Grants

Amount: Undisclosed
Closing Date: 8 April 2024
Purpose: Provides funding to eligible households that have been impacted by lead contamination from the former Pasminco Cockle Creek Smelter. This includes parts of Boolaroo, Argenton, Speers Point, Macquarie Hills and Edgeworth.

Purpose: The Giving Joy is seeking applications for its grant opportunity to women-led initiatives—giving women entrepreneurs critical resources to start businesses, acquire skills, sustain operations or improve their ideas worldwide.

Hunter Water's Love Water Grants

Amount: $10,000

Purpose: To support the community community groups, schools and organisations to make smart water choices through education and awareness. The grants will help to:

  • Boost community groups and organisations to identify and solve water conservation issues through practical solutions and projects
  • Inspire local schools, community groups and other organisations to undertake activities which tackle local environmental issues, to help protect and enhance our natural environment
  • Enhance liveability, diversity, inclusion and innovation in our community

Orica Community Investment Grant

Purpose: To invest in causes, events and programs which reflect our vision and values. Funds, with a maximum value of $10,000 per project, will be available twice annually on an application basis for projects, activities or events which meet one or more of the following objectives:

  • environment and sustainability
  • education and lifelong learning
  • strong communities

Origin’s Eraring Community Investment Fund

Amount: $10,000 - $100,000
Applications close: 24 March 2024
Purpose: The fund is just one of the ways Origin plans to support the local community. The four priority areas for the fund are:

  • Community well-being
  • Community resilience
  • Economic transition and diversification
  • Environmental protection and outdoor amenity

Within three investment categories:

  • Sponsorships up to $10,000
  • Grants between $10,000 – $50,000
  • Partnership Projects up to $100,000.

Penfolds Evermore Grant

Amount: Total pool $200,00
Applications close: 17 March 2024
Purpose: To support community and culture in Australian communities connected to Penfolds. Penfolds hopes to fund innovative and visionary projects that are aligned with the Penfolds Evermore vision. Penfolds is particularly interested in receiving proposals in one of the three priority fields of:

  • Winemaking and viticulture
  • Food
  • Creative arts (including fashion, art and music)

Purpose: To support Australian-based communities and projects that are looking to benefit our country's regional areas.

Telstra Connected Communities Grant Program

Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: 27 March 2024
Purpose: To support not-for-profit community organisations that provide access to information, technology, education and facilities for the purpose of building both social capital and digital capability. Examples include:

  • Delivering, or providing activities, events, programs and services;
  • Purchasing or hiring equipment and materials
  • Community infrastructure projects
  • Organisational capacity building
  • Community resource development.

Telstra Footy Country Grants

Purpose: To financially assist initiatives that can support Community Clubs affiliated to the AFL to strengthen the base and secure the future in three key strategic areas.

Westfield Local Heroes

Amount: $20,000
Closing Date: 18 March 2024
Purpose: This is a recognition and shines the spotlight on individuals who make a positive impact to their local community or environment.

Community members nominate their heroes. The successful hero for each of the 42 Westfield Centres is awarded a $20,000 grant for the organisation or group they represent, and each finalist receives a $5,000 grant for their organisation or group.

Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants

Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: 15 March 2024
Purpose: The program is open to primary schools and early learning centres across Australia. Projects can include:

  • Planting a vegetable or bush tucker garden,
  • Creating a sensory garden or a butterfly garden
  • Installing a yarning circle to learn more about First Nations perspectives
  • Tackling waste issues through a composting or recycling project.
