Welcome to the August edition of the Salamanca Market stallholder news

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the August edition of the stallholder newsletter. As the weather warms up and the days are starting to get longer its a good opportunity to start thinking about the upcoming tourism season and to note that the cruise ships will start to arrive again soon.

We recently welcomed many new casual stallholders to our market family, and many of them have had their first trading day at the market already. There have also been a few changes in licensed stallholders and you can read the comings and goings at the bottom of this newsletter. It is always sad to see our regulars leave, but inspiring to see new stallholders or casuals purchase a licensed site.

Our volunteers at the information booth play an important role in welcoming people to the market and assisting with questions and directions. Several new volunteers have joined the team and we encourage stallholders to please make them feel welcome in their new roles. To help them, it is also a timely reminder for stallholders to update their Salamanca Market website page. The volunteers rely on this information to help them answer questions and find stalls selling particular products.

Updates to the website

We have made a few changes to some of the stallholder pages on the website to make it easier to find information. If you visit the Current Stallholders page you will now find separate pages for updating your website listing, promotions and reading the past editions of the stallholder newsletter. This page also has useful information on changing your product line, applying for a market absence and transfer of sites.

Spring content callout

Spring is on the way and already the days are getting a bit warmer and a bit longer. If you have some new seasonal products or anything that you think would be a bright, fresh or healthy idea to promote on our social media pages please email us at salamancamarket@hobartcity.com.au. If you would like some more information we have included some tips on the stallholder pages in the below link.

Would you like to be promoted on social media?

Charlie Horse is galloping away

You can often not pick what will go well on social media, but recently, we put up a video on our Instagram page of one of our buskers playing the banjo with a little wooden horse dancing beside him. The reel is still performing well and after a few weeks the number of views has just hit 1 million views, 33k shares and 93k likes. It just goes to show that sometimes the light-hearted, quirky and entertaining content is a great way to reach new audiences.

New Casual Stallholders

Six weeks after welcoming our Casual Stallholder intake for the 2024-26 agreement, almost all have had their for day at Salamanca Market and we've received so much positive feedback from patrons, crew and other stallholders.

We would encourage you to complete your website listing, if you haven't already, so that we can get these up on the Market website and to assist with any enquiries we receive about your products. If there is anything we can help you with, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Update your website page

Have you updated your website listing on the Salamanca Market website lately? Refreshing your business information is a great way to help customers search for your business and find you. You can now add more photos and add more contact information.

Welcoming New Volunteers

We recently onboarded nine new Salamanca Market volunteers, to compliment our existing team of volunteers. During busy times, our volunteers receive a high volume of enquiries from visitors and locals at the Information Booth. They receive many questions, with one of the most popular being where to find a particular stall and what types of stalls are at the market. Our volunteers provide visitors with market maps and information, to help guide people around the market and to find stalls. Our market volunteers are very valuable to the team, we appreciate their continued support and the enhanced experience they provide to those visiting the market. From time to time you may also see some of our volunteers roving throughout the market, to help visitors requiring assistance. Please make our new volunteers feel welcome whist they settle into their roles.
